Leaking?

Ok another question. Ya know, for this being my 5th kid i ask a lot of questions! lol i feel like this is my first time all over again! Anyways, on to my question. I have been "leaking" all day today. Its not a gush of fluid (ive never had my water break naturally its had to be broken) but more like a LOT of sweat? My descriptive skills arent so good. I mean, my jeans were so wet that it leaked onto a chair, and while i was laying down i could feel a lot of wetness in between my legs. But i know its not sweat, im actually freezing right now. So could my bag just be leaking slowly? I mean, is it possible to just have a small break? I never went through this with my other kids, so i dont know whether to pack my bag and wait for the contractions to get harder or to go to sleep. My mom told me not to go to sleep... to wait and see what happens.

Ps- i have been having "random" ctrx for days now

What does it smell like?I find amniotic fluid to smell almost like sperm, quite strong and very different from discharge.

Sleep!!! :)

in my "standard" birth class they told us that that indeed could be a leak that's small in the bag of waters. They would say to call the hospital and probably they'll tell you to go there. (but then you risk getting induced with pitocin if the contractions don't start within a certain amount of time.)

If I were you, I'd make sure my hospital bag was packed, and then GET SOME SLEEP!!!! Chances are that you'll need it soon. Why stay up and wait for the contractions to start?? If they're strong enough to pay attention to, they'll wake you up.

p.s. I love sleep and do really poorly without it, so my response is certainly biased toward sleep at all costs!

Hmmm. I have never had my water break naturally. I do know that the days and weeks leading up to when I had Sheridyn I had increasing wetness. I would say try adn sleep. You will be glad you did!

LOL well its a little too late to answer that question.. me and my husband just had some "alone time" since ALL the kids were sleeping (which is rare)... so i wouldnt know which is which now!

But I just got out of a hot bath, I am going to pack my bag, and just sleep. If i wake up in labor, YAY. If not, then atleast I got some sleep.

But increasing wetness vs a leak in my water bag, how would i be able to tell the difference? I mean, if it is my water i would like to prepare the babysitter and notify everyone involved so that they can be on alert. If not, i dont want to bother them if i dont need to KWIM?

When my water broke with my last babe i got pretty heavy gushes frequently throughout the day. There was an unmistakable odor and i had to keep towels etc. between my legs at all times. With heavier discharge or possible more mucous plug it was just some wetness here and there. It could be a small tear in your sac but again check for the smell when you can.

With #1 my water broke before labor started. It was a definite leaking, not a gush, but I knew I wasn't urinating!! It would stop and start throughout the day depending on my position. I had to wear a pad all day. It wasn't like normal discharge.

I wouldn't have sex if you suspect your water has broken. At least I think you aren't supposed to because you can introduce infection up there since it doesn't have the bag of water for protection.

I wouldn't think it's increased wetness if it is going through your pants and onto your chair though. Now... when I had my show with my 1st... I thought it was my water but it wasn't. Course I get to the hosp and they didn't check me for 4hrs. Was told I had a high break. 4hrs later again I am told my water never broke at all. After being there 8hrs I consented to letting them break it and I ended up having a c-section for "failure to progress".

So it could be your show as well. Mine wasn't even bloody. But since it's happening off and on I am more likely to think it's your water.
