My poor, dear sweet DD. She is so, so, so very bored. Two weeks ago, I was trying to create a really super awesome fun day for her and I, and we went to the park in the early morning so she could get in a good nap, I could relax and watch some Harry Potter while she napped, and we could spend the rest of the day playing, watching a movie, pretending to be turtles...all kinds of fun stuff.
What happens? I fall off the stairs of the playground platform, completely tearing all 3 outer ligaments in my right ankle. My day full of fun turned into a day full of ambulances and ER visits. Now I'm in a splint for the next month. I can't drive, and now my major means of transportation (my feet) are off limits. I can't walk very much at all, or the ligaments bleed and slow down healing (it also pools the leaky blood into my foot and turns it lovely bruisey colors).
DD is a very outdoorsy-active gal. She's 18 months, so she loves for me to chase her, loves to chase me, and do all kinds of on-my-feet play. A lot of which is out until my splint is off
I'm home all day with her and now I have no idea what I can do to relieve this poor kid's absolute boredom without re-injuring my foot. Can anyone toss some ideas out for things she can do with her gimpy mama?
We're also trying to set up a routine, wake up, change diaper, get breakfast, poop-scoop the back yard and water (she plays in the sprinklers so this is like an hour long activity for her, as I have to water the two halves of the yard one at a time), come inside for a snack and watch a half hour of tv (she freaking LOVES the doodlebops, so I figure a half hour won't detract too much from the rest of the day), play with toys for half an hour/hour, watch a movie, have lunch, nap, have a nibble...and after nap I'm at a complete loss on what to do every day. Usually during her nap I clean the kitchen and tidy up, so the hours between naptime and dinnertime, and from dinnertime to bath/relax/storytime/bedtime routine are very open-ended...leaving me with not a clue on what to do.
edit: not sure if this should be moved to toddlers, I meant to post it there but either way, I'm looking for help from anywhere. Her boredom and my complete ineptness at figuring out activities for her is a key source of our discipline issues at this point.
