Frustrated and uneasy

I have to say that I really lucked out with my OB. He rocks and he is so accomodating to our wishes. Well, he had to be out of town from Oct 10 through Oct. 20th for a conference. He had a woman from out of state who just recently retired/closed practice to fill in for him. WHAT WAS HE THINKING??

I had an appt with her and from the get-go I am not getting good vibes from her. First thing she wants to do is an internal exam to see if I'm dialted (I'm ~38 weeks). I refuse and she sort of gets an attitude like, stupid kid you read too much garbage on the internet, sort of vibe.

Of course, the day before my appt I had some serious sharp pains on my right side so I have to bring them up and she sends me for a non-stress test. Well, that's fine with me, I wanted to make sure everything was going o.k. (it was, afterwards they assumed these stabbing pains to be round ligament spasms). But while I am getting the test done and everything on the test is fine she calls and wants a myriad of other 'tests' done like a fern test, etc, etc. Of course I said no.

Even the nurse there said they hardly ever do any of the tests this lady is recommending.

What it boils down to - if I have to have this lady care for me while I deliver I can only imagine what a stressful and bad experience it might be. Why my OB chose this lady - well he must have owed the devil a favor!

I figure if this baby stays put until the 20th, we will be all clear for launch. WRONG! I just found out that my OB has to leave town again on the 30th!

Thanks for letting me vent and please send some, "baby come in the alloted 10-day window" vibes :

That would really frustrate me. Stick to your guns - you are an educated woman and this is all dependent on your decisions and choices. I hope your baby comes in the right window - but if not I know that you and your partner will still be able to negotiate and advocate for your rights and the birth that you hope for. Good luck!

{{{{{{{{{{BAby come in the allotted ten day window or miraculously have the overbearing crazy ob lady replaced with the worlds nicest instead}}}}}}}}}}}}}

How frustrating! I would be so upset if my nice midwives were replaced with someone like that...

s and lots of luck!

Dude, I would SO 'explain' to the lady that 'hey, there isn't a need for a vag. ex!" or "hey, there's no need for that test, why are you trying to get me to take it?" but then again, I'm pretty bold and bitchy--and having a homebirth! heehee

I'm sorry you are dealing with this...something that a friend told me that might make you feel better - She said that she was NOT happy with her back up OB and even though she had cx the entire time her OB was away she thinks she willed her body to wait until he came back! The babe was born the morning he returned!

Thanks for the support. I am reeling as to why my OB picked this replacement. They are TOTAL opposites. I am not kidding when I say that he must have owed the devil a favor. Baby - please stay put for 3 more days!!!
