hi everyone! I hope its ok if I join you? I recently was told about MDC after I told my LC I liked reading Mothering magazine, and I feel so at home here already!! I am (was?) on another birth month message board, but its very "mainstream" and I have almost nothing in common as far as parenting/lifestyle goes with any of the women (except a few fellow AP mamas), so I'm soooo glad to have found an August 06 board on here!!
again, hope I'm not to late to join in the fun.....
I suppose I'll tell you a little about me since this is an introduction...
I'm Phoenix, a 20 y/o FTM to my DD, August May who was born on Aug. 3rd this year. She was born in a hospital with doctors and drugs and it ended with a vacuum extraction (unfortunately, i planned a NCB that had to be in the hospital because of insurance but had to have an induction due to possible toxemia....). I was really bummed out about the way her birth went, but we are getting over it. I'm a SAHM and exclusively breastfeeding, and we love cosleeping and baby wearing (I'm a sling addict. seriously. I learned how to sew pouch slings yesterday and I'm already bugging my DH to let me buy more fabric to make some different ones lol, if they sold the sling rings somewhere I could pay cash at, we'd all be doomed because I like those type best....). DD is also very colicky and has reflux and we are constantly working on finding natural gentle ways to help her with the least amount of drugs possible (she is currently on prevacid but I'm trying to find a way to wean her off. We tried accupuncture and it hasn't helped...now we're trying infant massage).
I'm not as "crunchy" as I could be (or once was before I married DH.....hes about the opposite of crunchy....) but we are working on getting back there by buying more organic foods and household/body products. We are pagans, and my husband is more active in that than I am so I try to use that to presuade him to change his lifestyle (as in telling him we are supposed to be in touch with the earth, etc).
Anyways, I'm rambling on and on here and it was supposed to be a short intro....
I hope to get to know everyone soon and all that good stuff!
