adventures in sanity (or keeping my house clean)!

So, here's my breakdown thread, where I came to the conclusion (again - sigh) that I can't deal with the mess anymore and need to do something about it. As an attempt at accountability and noticing the positives about what I get done, I'm starting this thread to keep track of my progress. If you want to join me in your own "adventures in (housekeeping) sanity", please do!

This is what I did today (all without using the TV or computer for my kids! which is another big goal and accomplishment for me!):
*scrubbed my sink, Flylady style. It shines!
*cleared off all the clutter from the kitchen counters and cleaned them.
*Deep cleaned and organized *under* the sink. This was gross and so needed to be done. We all have mold allergies and they've been getting bad lately (it's that time of year). Our kitchen is a big source of mold in our house.
*swept the kitchen floor
*put a load of laundry in the dryer and started another load.
*read a chapter of a book to DD

I have tons of laundry to be folded that has been piling up. (nak now, so pls forgive typing) Hopefully I can tackle some of that soon.

Traditionally DH has taken on the responsibility of cleaning dishes & kitchen, and I've done most everything else (or at least been in charge of delegating and telling him when it needs to be done). The thing is, that he doesn't clean the kitchen to my standards and I get a real sense of satisfaction when I clean the kitchen. So we talked, and I'm taking over kitchen duty. But he's supposed to become more active in housework in rest of house. We'll see how it goes.

Also going to be working on decluttering. Got rid of a bunch of baby stuff a couple weeks ago (at consignment sale). Will work on more soon

I'll join in!!

Today I started going through the boxes in our basement. We built a house almost a year ago, and our unfinished basement is full of boxes that need to be sorted out. I went through 5 today!! Woohoo!!! I also cleaned out our coat closet and threw away some kids shoes that were very worn and ugly. I did one load of laundry, made 3 meals, and cleaned up after 9 kids all day. (I do daycare) My biggest thing, is that I want to get rid of stuff. DH is almost worse than I am with not throwing things away.

Great! I'm glad to have company!

Last night I also emptied the dishwasher and washed the rest of the dishes before bed. DH & I picked up clutter in the main rooms, and I swept the playroom/artroom/guinea pig room. And DH folded 3 or 4 loads of laundry, plus started another!

We've been out almost all day today, but I made sure the breakfast dishes were cleaned up before we left the house.

Well, today I'm afraid I won't get anything done, I have 10 kids here today, so just getting dishes done is quite a feat!! I have soooo much laundry to do, I'm not sure how to get started.:
