late introduction

Hi, I just signed up for the forum and wanted to introduce myself. I'm due around Nov 18th.. but it is a prediciton I take with a grain of salt since I'm planning on going all natural with this birth and the baby will come when s/he feels good and ready. . Both Dh and I were born 3 weeks early, and I have no idea if that has any bearing on it... but we're suspecting our "Little Bear" may make an early appearance.

We do not know the gender of the baby yet and won't until the day s/he is born. I'm eagerly anticipating the moment when DH can say "it's a ...." to me.

Great to have you here--and look forward to getting to know you!
Yea, I am not sure, but I don't think there is a genetic link to 'earliness' unless mom genetically has very short menstral cycles (like only 20 day cycles or something) and her mom had short cycles, and her moms mom etc...then when the Dr asks for first day of last period, they use the 28 day cycle and it is a bit distorted due to the incorrect cycle length. In this case, it can be genetic. Any idea if you have cycles different from the 'norm' (28 day cycle)?

yes. My cycles are usually around the 24 day mark... but I told that to my midwife when we were discussing my due date, so I think she took that into consideration.

I was a second baby and I'm pretty sure that had something to do with why I was early... my mom barely had itme to get to the hospital. . DH's mother had GD and he was 3 weeks early.

We figure, however, that if there is any genetic link to anything it will be that both of us are rediculously thick headed and stubborn so this child will insist on being different.... almost guarnateeing s/he will show up late.

Welcome!! I was born 6 weeks early and I was told by either my doula or a nurse at the OB's(can't remember which) that there seems to be some correlation between preterm babies having preterm babies but there isn't an actual proven genetic link??? I think my dd is coming early too-just a feeling.

I have to say I would not be devastated if this baby came early. I'm desperate to meet him/her and actually know which pronoun to use.

thanks for all the welcomes, btw. I'm glad I finally signed up for this board.. I've been a lurker on the breasfeeding and vax forums for some time, just never signed up.
