What kind of ACV for no Poo?

i stumbled on these no poo threads and I am ready to try it after years of just thinking my frizzy hair would suck without chemical products but that it didn't matter so much since I was no longer a wild young thing but rather someone who always has baby lunch bits, baby slobber or baby snot on her shirt. But maybe there is hope!

SO -- I wonder three things --

First -- I have oily scalp and very thin curlyish (lame limp curls not nice ones) hair and live in greasifying New York City -- do other no-pooers with hair like that prefer a particular BS to water ratio? I am scared to do honey with my very thin old-mop-like hair in this grimy city.

Second -- can you premix the ACV and water and conditioner concoction?

Third -- is that Bragg ACV or other natural-y the way to go or will any kind do?

I've got similar thin curly hair with oily (prone to yeast and itching) roots, I apply Heinz or grocery store brand ACV only on my hair that is ears down. I put it in a spray bottle and put 1/2 ACV to 1/2 water. I prefer filtered, non-all-natural-non-pasteurized because the natural stuff gets goopy and I don't need goopy strands weighing down my hair. The goopy vinegar mother is great for internal health though, I just don't think it would be that great in terms of looks for your hair.

thanks, spastica -- what about swimming?

Looking through these posts, I see you are the curly hair guru! Thanks for the notes -- I am trying my deli-bought Heinz ACV and baking soda this evening -- I hope I can join the ranks of happy curly-ish no pooers.

One last question -- I swim at the Y 1-2 times a week -- would you just rinse after that or lug the concoctions there or use shampoo?

hi there
i am a no shampoo'er and just use cheapo acv, and save the braggs for eating.
as far as swimming goes, hair is like a sponge, so make sure you get your hair really wet before swimming so it will absorb less water, also you should use one of those really nice silicone caps to keep your hair as protected as possible.
i keep my acv in a squirt bottle that closes really tightly, so it can be portable if need be.

happy no poo'ing

Thanks -- so far not so happy with it but I am trying to stick to it!

Just wondering about your handy dandy squirt bottle -- do you dilute the ACV in there or apply it directly when you are in post-swim shower? And same with BS -- can you premix these things?
