as i was making them his reaction was priceless...

him > "what are those honey? pillows?" (and he puts it up to his cheek) "soft!"

me> "um.... not pillows... they're.... feminine products that will help me feel better"

him> "you mean... FABRIC pads?" :

me> "yes sweetie... just think - you'll never have to buy them for me again!"

him>

LOL!!! I accidentally left some of my Lunapad liners on the couch when I first got them out of the package. Later on he mentioned how soft the new face washcloths were.

My dh about flipped out when I started to sew mine for the first time. We were pretty poor at the time and I was making cloth diapers out of old flannel sheets and baby blankets and I used the 'left over' peices to make pads. I had wanted to try cloth for quite awhile.
So he gave me the "what are you sewing?" question and when I told him he said something along the lines of "we aren't *that* poor!!!" He tried to tell me not to make/use them. Kind of like...he thought that using them was a status thing and it made him feel like he couldn't take care of his family.
After I explained to him why I wanted to use them (and showed him how expencive they were to buy on-line) he calmed down a bit.

I never forget it though. It was pretty funny!

Those reactions are priceless, all of them. DH has never said anything one way or the other, but I haven't heard any complaints about the lowered* budget in that area either.

*lowered only, because I'm not a purist on the clothpad use. OTOH, I am home the vast majority of the time, so....

I just started and I use some old terry washclothes we had. I absolutely love them! When I told my husband and showed him the soaking bucket he was horrified. He asked why I wanted to do what woman used to have to do in the old'n days and was I going to make sure to wash them seperately since there would be so much blood?! It was so funny, especially since I have really light periods. He thinks even 10 drops of blood is alot!
These stories are so great to hear.

These stories are really funny. Men! I made my own as well, basically out of old flannel pajamas, towels, cotton t-shirts, etc. I always wondered how my boyfriend would react. Just last weekend he was spending the night, and saw them in one of my drawers. He actually smelled them (they were clean!) because he thought they were oddly shaped scented satchels. When I told him, though, all he said was, "yea, that makes a lot of sense." He was actually a little too interested in the whole process.
