Record Keeping

Do you keep a log of sorts of homeschooling activities, accomplishments? Something for yourself, to reflect back on and see what's been covered when?

If so, what have you found works best for you?

I currently take pictures of things we make, and places we go. I will often keep brochures from museums and such as little reminders too. I just started writing down what we did each day, broken down by subject. Every few months I write about the progress they've made, what interests have been, what we'd like to do in the future.
Each state differs on what is required as record. In WA we only keep a file of our intent to hs, annual assessments/tests, and a immunization record. Since we don't immunize that record is blank. This fulfills our req's, so all the other stuff is for us, to look back on and see how far we've come.

I write anecdotals and keep a portfolio for both my dd's.

I can't manage daily but I do try to keep up to date and I try to keep anything that they ask to keep, and anything that also shows different areas of development.

I am probably more "anal" about record keeping...I collect various "evidence" not for the state but for me. I need to know that Bella is moving along just fine without school. *laughs*

Yes, I do. It's not required by the state, I just do it for me and in case my children ever think that they weren't doing enough during these happy days of living and learning together!

I have a table-form, I made, for each week with different subjects for each child. I fill it in each day. It has enrichment, physical activity, games, arts/crafts, music and a spot for notes as well as circle-time in addition to the usual math, history, writing, reading. I keep a list of our read-alouds too. It takes maybe 2 minutes a day to fill in and makes me feel really good especially on those days when it feels like all I did was make and drink coffee and wander around in a daze.

peace,

I have a daytimer and I just record what we have completed for the day in there. I too take pictures and have a binder with plastic sleeves that I keep samples of their work in.

Your method of keeping track is something like what I am working towards. I have been jotting activities down on loose leaf paper and putting them in a small binder; I would like to get it a bit more organized.

It is something I get a good feeling from as well!
