What does back labor feel like?

typing w/toddler on lap. can someone describe it to me? does it come and go or is it constant? do the cx hurt in your belly still? thx!

I think it's different for everyone. For me, it wrapped around from my belly to my back, or my back to my belly, during contractions. Like a period cramp that extended to the back. Mildly uncomfortable at first, VERY uncomfortable later. Ouch!

toddler on lap again i just feel kinda crampy and have had a lot of off and on back pain today. i also have been having loose stools (TMI, I know) and that is what happened last time i went into labor - but my water broke so I knew for sure i was in labor. how can i tell if the babe is in fact anterior? thanks!

My back ached horribly with intense peaks with my back labor.Feel for your babies bum and then follow the spine.Typically your belly button will be popped out if the back is there in the front(anterior) or caved in some if the babe is posterior.Hope that helps.

For the last hour of my labor, my contrax alternated between uterine and back. When I had the back labor, my uterus got a break and all the pressure was on my back, like a very intense back cramp. Hard counterpressure, my DH's fist jammed into my back helped alot. I actually preferred having the back labor since it was more manageable at the time.

I"ve been having similary contractions as well. they radiate around from my stomach to my back or vise versa. just when I think, is this it? should I start keeping track, they seem to go away. I read in some pregnancy book ( I think Dr. Seares?) that true labor pains do radiate auound to thel ower back, but the keay is that they are progressive becoming stronger, longer etc. I think that what we are both feeling may just be bh? I don't know....I wish I could wave a wand and know exactly when this little one will be here!
Last night the bh lasted almost 3 -4 hours and I thought this is it! then they went away again. My water broke with my first baby and with my second I was induced so I really don't know how it is supposed to feel!

I keep telling myself that if I am questioning the contractions then it isnt real/true labor!
