Warning: shows picture of a mutilated penis
http://newborns.stanford.edu/Circumcision.html

Training video http://newborns.stanford.edu/Gomco.html
" the most beautiful penises are those that don't have much mucous membrane showing"

"Now you can see the penis that you're used to seeing"

Uugggh. :

And this is Stanford

Watching more... "That's what makes the penis pretty"

He at least does say that it is 'afterall a cosmetic surgery' but his emphasis on how beautiful it is is sickening.

Uses a safety pin

(My apologies if this video is already on the other links)

Holy crap, did anyone count the nummber of times he said "beautiful circumcision", "pretty penis", or "perfect penis"? He clearly calls circumcision a "cosmetic procedure". He really emphasizes removing as much mucosal skin as possible. He even described the finished, raw glans as a friggin' "rosebud"!!!

This is pediatrician Dr. Greene in California, BTW. Is this the Dr. Greene who has the website?

Thoroughly disgusted,

Jen

Bah. Quackery. In a couple of decades they will realize this is as scientific as sacrificing a goat to ensure the harvest.

No, the Dr. Greene with the website is Alan Greene. The circumcision is being performed by a Richard Greene.

Any what about how he asks the person in 'training' (or it could have been the camera person, I can't be sure), "Jennifer, how are you doing?"

Uugh. Truthfully I hope she was thinking, 'fine, but you are a sick freak and I"m never going to do this'

I was thinking that the "Jennifer" giving the sucrose/getting the baby to suckle on a finger or pacifier might actually be the mother...but, who knows.

That doctor sure seems to luuuuuuuuuuv beautifying infant penises though. So creepy, disturbing, and just plan gross. How can such an enthusiastically pro-circ doctor *not* provide parents with biased information?

Yuck...

*sigh*

It says it was a training video and I really thought it too medical to be a parent.

BTW, its basically a free endorsement for that doctor... someone I read on the link to the video or to his site that he's very well renowned and the doctor the doctor's request for their sons....

You know, I was kinda hoping the whole website was just one cruel subtle joke (phished website or whatever) because it is just that ,subtle (since it links to aap etc., but carries a pro-circ rather than neutral tone). Yuck yuck yuck.

Ugh, by what everyone else has said I do not need to watch it. PUKE PUKE PUKE

I know this might be harsh, but people like that don't deserve air to breath, IMO. To say glans looks like a rosebud? There are not words.....

Oh wait....yes there is one word:

PEDOPHILE.

I wonder if doctors talk like this when parents don't watch the circumcision?

It is not them talking while alone with an infant that I am most concerned about...

I got as far as the part where the baby started crying and the doc saying he thinks he could feel it a little bit! I had to turn it off. I can't believe people do that to their babies.

I can't watch this right now... I am supposed to be sleeping! But this is THE Stanford University that is potentially advocating circ. And making sexual comments about a newborn penis. So here is the address for complaints:

Stanford University School of Medicine
300 Pasteur Drive
Stanford, CA 94305
(650) 723-4000

And conveniently, here is the Stanford center on medical ethics:

Well, I made it 1/3 of the way through.

1) Baby cries during 2 injections of 1% lidocaine (0.25ml per side) Hyperventillation is visible (movement of abdomen) Dr: "Thats the last discomfort the baby will feel"

2) Baby cries foreskin is seperated. Dr: "I think he felt that"

3) Baby cries as foreskin is pulled back.

This sounds like a newborn "distress cry". And clearly, he is feeling significant pain, even with the best "pain meds" that Stanford University could provide. And a sugar pacifier.

A note on this video: "Utilization and copying of the materials to improve the care of newborns is encouraged with proper citation of source."

A "perfect penis" there at the end? Are you friggin kidding me? Can you imagine if he was working on an infant girl's labia and calling them "beautiful" and "perfect" after he had performed surgery on them?

Also...no medical professional has EVER touched me "down there" without a gloved hand, nor have I EVER received a shot without the person administering it being gloved. How does this sick you-know-what get away with touching this boy's genitals with his bare hands?
While I was watching him give the injections, I kept thinking "Where the hell are his gloves????" Then he started talking about the beautiful penis... *shudder*

One thing that confused me was the focus he placed on removing every single bit of the mucous membrane. I thought that a high circ (more inner foreskin remaining) gave more pleasure than a low circ (most of the inner foreskin removed) because of the increased sensitivity of the inner foreskin. Did it have something to do with making the scar less visible because it's right behind the coronal sulcus?

sick sick sick

I just so happen to think that MY sons INTACT penis is beautiful. I just had to hug my son after watching that. It is SICKENING.
