Umm ISO PUL Scraps....

Watches everyone go "whut?"

I wanna make myself some breast pads. I can get the flannel I can get fleece but I can't get the PUL to keep my clothes dry....

Fundage is a bit limited (DH thinks breast pads are a 'luxury' or something)

I can't go with the disposable types or my boobs look like bullzeyes.

So if any of you mommas have some PUL scraps that can be used to make some breast pad circles (I dont care about the colours, patterns or whatever) I'll be willing to take them off your hands, even pay for shipping if it isn't too astronomical.

PM me if it's doable.

TIA!!!!

Figure sewing breast pads isn't that difficult....

Wow this is a brilliant idea. I have never found a breastpad that I liked. If yours work please report back and enclose some pictures etc. I am impressed! I would try to use a highly absorbant fabric next to the breast. Maybe someone would have some scraps of sherpa or something really absorbant. All of the disposable ones hit the water barrier and run right down your chest. I HATE THEM!!! I tried the storebought cloth ones and they were better but didn't fit my bra well.

I am always amazed at how creative some people are. I hope your experiment is a huge success.

I'm planning on using some of the old ratty CPF's for the interior *DH's idea acctually), some fleece (have a fleece blankie that I'm not gonna use ever again) for against the skin, and the PUL for the part that goes against the clothing.

Fleece to wick, CPF to absorb and the PUL to protect.

The finished product wont be too pretty....I have to figure out how to T & T again....

If you aren't a really heavy leaker you might be able to get away with fleece as the backer and the CPFs as the part against your skin. That way it would be less layers and not as bulky. Beware that something like PUL will not let your skin "breathe" and since there is moisture involved also, it is more likely you could get thrush issues.

Also, if your sewing machine can sew an "overlock" edging that would work better than T&T. I know my pretty basic machine can do a really ugly but functional overlock, and that would be much trimmer at the edges (to avoid those bullseye pads ). Good luck!

I have made breast pads with pul as the back and 2 layers of sherpa, trim but absorbant. I stitched close to the edge and then zig-zag. Very easy.

pm me with your addy and I will send some pul scraps, I have a lot that would work in all colors.

I have some pretty heavy lettdown when I get going. Not OALD, but pretty darned close lol. It's best I be prepared. Heck, I'm getting letdown and gushing right *now* and I havn't even had my baby yet!!!!

And about the moisture, hence why I have the fleece against the skin, to wick away the moisture to keep my skin dry. Due to my not quite OALD, I change my pads regularly anyway, so breathability (or lack there of) isn't an issue, and I think PUL is a bit more breathable than the disposable paper/plastic disks they sell in stores
