Remind me again about the mucus plug!

So, I just gave birth last year & you'd think I would remember this....but talk to me about the mucus plug.

I began losing CM today -- thick/clearish, about the size of a gumball (sorry about the TMI).

I can't remember...when do you start losing it in relation to when you will probably deliver? One week...longer? When does one begin to lose the bloody mucus?

Thanks....!! I can't remember exactly how it happened last year for me....

As far as I know, unless there's bloody show with the plug it doesn't necessarily mean anything (other than you may be dilating slightly more). But if there's show included, it may mean labor is somewhat near.

I lost my plug at 34 and 36 weeks...and went overdue.

I lost it with dd at 32 weeks, she was born at 38 weeks. This time I lost it at 25 and 36 weeks, I'm almost 39 weeks and still no baby.

If it includes show, I believe it's usually a sign that it'll be within the next couple of weeks. Not really an accurate gauge of "time line" but still, may mean things are moving along. REally, though, just remember that you won't stay pregnant forever, and every day that passes, you're one fewer day pregnant...

Thanks, all.

I couldn't remember ... and I think I'm just getting impatient now!!

just remember that you won't stay pregnant forever, and every day that passes, you're one fewer day pregnant... -- I think that was exactly what I needed to hear.

Thanks!!!
