Hi i've made afew pocket diapers for DS (flannel outer and very thick fleece inner) and just have been stuffing them with the gerber pre-folds i had around.. my qustion is should i buy PUL to sew in a layer? I haven't had any leaks at all this week because i tend to change DS ALOT (who wants to sit in pee?) and afew times we've gone out for afew hours and still no leaks... and for overnights i just put a diaper cover on over the pocket diaper and haven't had a leak (maybe DS just isn't a heavy wetter) but i do change his dipe when he wakes up to nurse... thanks for any help i'm really new to the world of CDs!

I basically do the same thing with some of my diapers. They are made out of 2 layers of Hancock's fleece or a layer of microfleece with the outer thicker fleece (gerber prefold inside), and they work just fine. I throw a cover over them if we use them at night or for a long time. We don't go out in them because they are too thick. I say if they are working just fine for you, then keep with what works. Right now, they are more breathable than they would be with pul. I choose to use my pul more for the trimmer pockets I make, but the choice is up to you. HTH!

I think it's a good idea to have that layer of PUL just in case -- or if you want to go out. If you want to get some for cheap, get it from a co-op!

It sounds like you are making pocket fitteds - which I love because you can stuff them with as much as you want!

If you don't mind putting a cover on, and it works for you, no problem. It just depends on your personal preference. If you are looking just for fitteds, then do what you are doing. If you want a diaper that doesn't need a cover, then I would make some with a PUL layer. I wouldn't try to add the PUL to the already made diapers, but that's because I don't think I'm a good enough seamstress to pull it off. I would just make new dipes.

Good luck!
