Safety of Britax Wizard vs. Regent for 3 y.o.?

Trying to decide whether to buy a Regent for DS (and give Wizard to DD), or keep him in his Wizard and get a Boulevard for DD. He's about 33 lbs, 36 inches. My car (Sienna) has side curtain airbags. I'm leaning toward moving him to a Regent, but if there's a good reason he should stay in his Wizard, I'll keep him in it.

Any advice?
thanks,
Erin

Sounds like he still has plenty of room left in it. I'd keep him in it and get a boulevard. It just seems safer to me.

how old is your wizard? if it will be expiring before long, and you'll be replacing it anyway, i would go ahead and get a boulevard for your dd and then get a regent for your ds when the wizard expires. if your wizard still has a few years left in it, it may make better financial sense to pass the wizard down to your dd and get a regent now.

I'd get the Regent if you think that there's any chance you'll need it. I don't think it's any less safe right now, and it's definitely better than buying a booster seat when it does outgrow his current seat.

I don't know if you'll need the Regent, though. My 3 year old (will be 4 in January) is 42" and in his Decathalon. We're going to move him up to a Regent before our next baby is born in the spring, but he doesn't *have* to get out of the Decathalon just yet. It's close, but he still can grow a little bit. Your DS may have another 2-3 years in his current seat, and it would be acceptable to go to a belt positioning booster at that point. Too bad you can't see the future and know when he'll hit a growth spurt.
