Cords... when did they fall off for you?

Jonas just lost his today... he is 4dys old. I think all of my kids lost theirs before a week. One of my friends said her kiddo's took 8wks!

What has your experience been?

I have to say... I am excited it is gone. That thing was really eeking me out and was starting to stink. I was concerned about it smelling but I guess it IS a shrivelled up piece of bloody cord. The skin wasn't irritated or pussie or anything...

Dd lost hers day 5...ds lost his on day 10.

I always forget these milestones because I'm a horrible, inattentive mother

However, Jackson's fell off at 9 days old. I'll forget that fact in a few months, though

Maytal's cord fell off around day 6. She has right now a really cute outie which I've been told is genetic. She's the only one of my children to have an outie but there's always the chance it will go in. I used goldenseal powder on her cord wherever it was raw and it dried everything up so well over that week.

Day 3. I just opened up the diaper and it popped off.

I have the worst luck with those things! My first's didn't fall off until she was well over 6 weeks . Turns out we were being too gentle with it and keeping it too clean. My second...well I barely even remember much about her first year ...but I know it wasn't more than a week or two. Lizzie's seems to be the hang on forever type...she's two weeks old today, and it's loosened at the top, but the bottom is snug--it's not going anywhere. And she's almost outgrown her newborn dipes, so it better fall off soon!!

Sages just fell off at 2wks old. NOW Kai's stayed on until probably 1 month old. MW told me to use goldenseal and witch hazel this time. With Kai i used alcohol and that apparently kills good and bad bacteria.

OH however Sage's middle part is still IN his belly button just the stumpy part fell off. hmmmmmm


A good friend of ours is going to make a medicine bag with the cord from the placenta. He does something with Cedar,Sage and something else. Very spirtual.

I didn't even see his at all. DH has been changing him everytime but he was out of the house so I got to do it. Well I didn't see the thing. lol I couldn't find it ANYWHERE! DH came home and I was like "Um, his cord is lost somewhere". he found it on the floor later. eww.

Oh and I have never added anything to their cord and they fall off less than a week. No alcohol... nothing.

8 days for my son. Went to change him in a public restroom for the first time, and found it in the foot of his sleeper!

My daughter's took 11 days, and it was so gross. I HATED it.

We did lotus with Xan and clipped only where the dried and brittle cord was beginning to break at the end of day two. The rest of it was hanging by a thread and fell off really quickly after that.
