Waking up alot even though still tired?

First of all WOW. Everyone must be busy busy with their babes!! No posts all day! Well except me....

Big thing we are going through i THOUGHT was a growth spurt but the other spurts weren't like this. she is waking up every hour or LESS even though half the time she is still way tired! She is sometimes easy to get back to sleep but sometimes I just feed her and she drinks almost all of one side (shes getting very efficient!!) and then falls back to sleep but then half an hour to MAYBE an hour later shes up again! I try to get her back to sleep and by the time I put her down again she wakes up and I feed her : Her other growth spurts were NOTHING like this...hardly anyhthing at all really. Just a half day where she was extra fussy and fed extra and that was it. Not like she wasn't gaining ethier not sure of exact weight but around 13 or so i would guess at 7 weeks. If this ISN"T a growth spurt then why all of the sudden would she be "scared" to sleep in her swing/bed when she used to do just fine????

That sounds so frustrating. Have you tried having her sleep on your chest? That is Johanna's favorite place for a nice sound sleep.

Hm! It is frustrating when you think you know what your baby is doing and then -- pffff -- it's a mystery again! It does sound like my kids' growth spurts, so maybe Ayla is just exploring new ways to grow ... lol ... sorry, not a lot of sleep going on here so I'm not especially coherent ...

She might sleep longer stretches carried in a sling. Once she seems really settled asleep in the sling, you can probably transfer her to wherever she sleeps. If you keep the sling on. around, or rolled up near her when she's in her sleeping spot, she might be comforted by its warmth/smell, which mayhelp her sleep away from you.

Her digestive system is continuing to mature, so along with a growth spurt and being hungry she'e probably getting used to a different pattern of bms -- maybe bigger, less frequent ones? Maybe TMI but that can cause some stomach discomfort/adjustment which could be disturbing her sleep as well.

This too shall pass ... every mothers' motto ...

ah ha! That is true... also, you know their litte brains are developing at an alarming rate. I think that sometimes babies don't want to miss anything and they learn to keep themselves awake in order to get stimulation that they need to wire all those neurons together. No research that I know of to prove this, just a idea. Or, they get overstimulated and then can't relax and let go....

i know she likes sleeping in the sling. i try to do that when i know shes going to be a little harder to get down but i have a horrible back and can't really walk around with her much cause i start getting twinges and pain. the best i can do is put her to sleep and then sit down but sometimes she wakes up since i am not moving : she doing a teensy bit better today by about half an hour. she apparently has moved to the vibrater chair affection instead of the swing. she also seems to sleep better when she is sweating her butt off!! still grunting and groaning in her sleep. not sure what is up with that!

i am about at the end of my rope though. ds needs attention that i really don't have the energy to give him. hes misbehaving cause i don't give him attention, hes waking up early again, dh just started a second job and will be working 12 hour shifts for about a week starting thursday and will be working through the weekend. no break in sight until christmas and the only reason he MIGHT get an xmas break is if they work their butts off until then : and get this I TRIED to schedule a massage (free from the birth center) and found out that dh has to work that day!! i feel like i am never going to get a break.

nope no one around. my best (and only so i guess she doesn't have a choice but to be the best!) friend lives 3 hours away. only been here for 2 years and am the "odd" one out cause i am so young. plus the fact that since i have no one to swap kids with i also don't have a friend to go out with! :

Try a LLL meeting to meet new people!

DD does this sleeping for 45 minutes thing, too. I wonder if she just gets lonely. Sometimes she's too warm or too cold. Also, she had a smidge of diaper rash appear, and she'd get really uncomfortable as soon as she peed.
