Nursing Fussiness

So DD#2 just started having a lot of trouble nursing the past couple of days. Every time I sit down to nurse her she FREAKS out and screams and refuses to nurse. I have to bounce on the ball while I nurse her (yeah, I'll just let that mental image settle in there for ya! ).

She will end up nursing, but isn't so happy about it. She also will stiffen up her whole body and we've been noticing she's more gassy, as well. I am wondering if the fussiness/stiffening/gassiness are related? DD#1 never did this, she never fussed at the boob.

Any thoughts? I was thinking I would call the pediatrician if she is still doing this tomorrow. She's also more fussy in general, I feel like it's because she won't nurse, but I don't know

Nate's just coming off a few weeks of major fussiness and refusing to nurse from like 4am to noon, go figure. Since he's growing so well I'm not worried. But he seems to just not have an appetite during that time, so I stopped pushing it and now he's much happier. But his number of poops per day has reduced drastically, so I think his system has just matured. Don't know if the fussiness was related to it or not. Of course he was also cutting a tooth at the time!
I hope she settles down soon. It can be so frustrating trying to nurse a little fuss-meister!

this happens with us a few days after each growth spurt. it seems as if I produce too much milk for her after she is done with a growth spurt and when the milk comes too fast it makes luna very upset. that, in turn, causes her to cry and fuss while trying to nurse, which leads to extra air in her belly... i have to really burp her a LOT for the 3-4 days following her nurs-a-thon growth spurts until my boobs regulate again.

Yes, I'm hoping this is a wierd phase. Interestingly, I finally got her to take expressed milk from a bottle at about 1:30 this morning after she basically fussed for several hours (NOTHING soothed her except for a bath and I couldn't keep her in the bath the whole night!). So I finally decided to get out a bottle and work on bouncing her a bit while I fed it to her. She conked right out.

Is it possible that it's something in my milk right now? I can't think of anything special I've eaten, but a friend suggested that and I wasn't sure.

Oh, and oddly, she nursed just fine in the night last night.

Yep, Nate nurses best at night. He doesn't care how full I am or how fast the flow is, he keeps right up with it when he's half-asleep. But during the day he hates a fast letdown, and I'm pretty sure in the morning that has something to do with it.

When Aria is overtired she will cry when I offer her the breast. I just SSSHHHH loudly for white noise though and she usually will settle down enough to latch on.
