So I'm so proud I've found some super deals at my dollar store. Share with me what you buy there to save money....

I get....
Pregnancy Tests
Boxes of cereal
The 5 pack of toothbrushes
Cheap tape for packaging
Pasta 2/$1

How about you?

Pregnancy tests (probably how my local store stays in business )
Greeting cards (2/$1) if I need them

Green scrubbies that I cut into smaller pieces.
Gift bags for presents if I don't already have an appropriate one in my stash
Helium balloons on birthdays
Caulk
Goodie bag items for birthday parties
Stocking stuffers at Christmas
Dh gets belt clips for his cell phone (he's always breaking them)

Oh I *love* the Dollar store

I actually went last night and got needles and thread and buttons to fix Dh's pants!

Candles, cards, soap, snacks, magnets... So many things I love buying there

I hate the dollar store. Most of the stuff is just crap.

I bought tape, on rolls that you put in a dispenser, as the kids go through a lot of tape. The rolls wouldn't fit the standard dispenser! Frustrating.

Other things break easily, don't work right, etc. And, those dollars add up fast.

Not a fan here!

pregnancy and ovulation tests
candles and other pretty little home decor accessories
the generic "oxyclean" powder - LOVE IT.

when we moved into our new house i bought:
a new dish drainer rack
a silverware tray
those magnetic letters and numbers that stick on the fridge, for DS

Wrapping paper, birthday party favor bag stuff (like playdough), sometimes cleaning supplies, and plastic containers to send lunches in.

I do think that some of the stuff is crappy, but I have also found some great things too. This is what I like at my dollar tree:

pregnancy tests (cheap and they work better than the expensive brands)
puzzles for the kids
large plastic dinosaurs and horses that my kids like to pretend play with
craft supply, their foam stickers are a very good price and cute too
helium balloons for birthdays, gifts, etc.
gift bags (they have the really big ones too, that would cost over $4 at target)
greeting cards (2/$1)
gift wrap (check the sq ft, I try to get the longer length to get more bang for my buck, they have really cute stuff, last time I got some snoopy gift wrap!)
Party favors
Seasonal/party decorations (I have found that generally they are cheaper than a store like factory card outlet)
Books (I've gotten some good deals on books there before)
Hair things (if you have a girl, there are a lot of cute hair things for cheap)
Travel tissue pks (I get these to keep in the car and diaper bag, and they are cheaper than getting it at a regular store, the generic brand is ok with me)

I get:

bandaids...the girls love bandaging every "owie" they get so this way we
can afford it!
yogurt 6-packs
sometimes they have Florida's Natural orange juice
craft stuff--stickers, markers, colored pencils, oil crayons
wheat bread
generic Woolite
Sun detergent
ready-made cookie dough (bad, I know!)

I agree that a lot of their stuff is like this. I only go for a small amount of things that are cheap and it doesn't matter that they are cheap. It used to be a place of excitement for ds, because it was the only store I would always say yes when he asked for a toy. Now, he says he doesn't want toys from the dollar store "because they are cheap and break too easy". He's all of five

the toothbrushes are the best deal imo.

we like to get balloons there for bdays too. has turned into a bit of a tradition.

I've mainly gotten mugs (I fill them up with sweets I make, and use them a lot as gifts), plates, dog toys, stuff for scrap books, etc. I only go the the kind where everything is, literally, a dollar. Not the kind that advertise as being "dollar general" but really charge 2 or 3 dollars for something.
