Do you ever see anyone NIP in your local stores/restaurants? - Page 2

I used to never pay attention. However, I dont remember the last time I saw anyone NIP (except myself).

Every now and then, but it's rare.

I've seen many moms nursing while sitting in the backseat of their car.I don't really consider that NIP though, maybe semi-NIP.

We see it quite a bit around here...I live in the Northampton, MA area and this is a very progressive area.

When we took our oldest dd out to the Boston aquarium I parked myself in front of the tropical fish tank to nurse. On the bench abutting mine, another woman was nursing her baby. I heard her partner comment to her that we must have been sitting in the breastfeeding corner :-)

Later that very same day I shared another bench with a nursing mom...It's everywhere around here!

I saw a woman nursing in the mall once when I was pregnant....
other than that, only at LLL meetings. In fact, I even went to a festival with another BFing mom, and she pumped for the occasion! ick! I felt so alone lol I've seen more babywearing though. mostly the front/back carriers but hey they're way better than those infant seats! I've even seen a few moms with pouch slings

my DD has a constant need to nurse and is VERY colicky, so everywhere I go, from the gerocery store to target to the zoo and beyond, even for quick trips somewhere, I have her in a sling and openly nursing (I only put the tail as a cover if she's freaking out and needs to go to sleep, it knocks her out in minutes, no idea why haha
we need to see more NIP!!! my first LLL meeting was the first time I'd ever seen anyone breastfeed, EVER. that's sad. 20 years before ever seeing breastfeeding. My dad said I was for a few months (but I'm not really sure since my mom died, theres pics of me with a bottle though), but thats it and I obviously couldn't remember that! eek!

Only if I go into the women's lounge at Nordstrom. And then my DS is always the oldest baby there...

With my first child - DD - I weaned at 6 months : but still did NIP a little teeny bit. I remember a trip to DC when she was a toddler and a woman asked me if I was BFing her. She was wearing a toddler about the same age in her sling. I had never seen a sling before and it only now occurs to me that she was nursing while we were talking! i've come a long way baby!!!

We're not far from each other! I work in Chicopee - at least I did - I gave my notice this week! So I have seen NIP at the butterfly place, at my office (I was so proud of that mama!!!) and at the mall.

FTR - I was also NIP at the mall, and at the Cracker Barrel by the mall if you ever saw me!

And the boss's wife, who is SAHM to 3 little ones, has always nursed them at the office when she came in to visit with them. Pretty BF friendly office.

The Nordstrom's lounge is the only reason I set foot in that store! One time I was there and both couches were full of BFing mommies. Oddly enough there was a bottle feeder in there too.....

I have not seen too much..... I'm all for it. I'd rather eat my meal in peace than deal with DD crying.

I NIP all over the place. I ended up on the Jumbo Tron at the Utah Jazz game last week, NIP. Guess that tells you I'm pretty good at that NIP thing.

I see moms at church all the time who I know are nursing, bottle feeding. I am also a rare baby wearer. I wear her all over the place, and it seem's all the other babies are in buckets. Who wants to haul around a bucket when you can sunggle with your baby?

I have seen nursing moms at the mall, and in the movie theater.

Gee, now I feel all alone here.

I don't think I've ever seen it here, now that you mention it. : And I've always thought of my town as fairly crunchy. Sigh ... My friend and I once NIP'ed together at a local restaurant, but other than that, I've not seen anyone besides myself (and I do it frequently.)

That's the only reason I ever go there, too! It's so nice to be able to lounge on a comfy couch while nursing DS. Last time I was there, I nursed next to mama nursing her 2 day old homebirthed DD.

Yes, every once in a while! Let me see..at the foodcourt, at the beach, at the mall and at the restaurant within the few months. But almost always those were little newborns. But I don't NIP anymore now that baby is older, either...he is too distracted and exposes me too much, panicks under the cover etc.

Not here. It's a very conservative Army town. But I saw it occasionally other places I've lived. I even saw a well covered (I assume Muslim) woman in a hijab NIP on a airplane a couple years ago.

Yes! We just went out to eat the other night and there was a mama nursing a baby (about 8 months old?) with no blanket covering! Usually I see moms NIP, but they're ALWAYS covered. I thought it was so sweet, too, because the baby kept playing with the moms shirt so some skin was even showing (GASP!) and she didn't even seem to notice. The best thing about it was, after we got to our table, my DH turned to me with a smile and said, "Did you see that mom nursing her baby? Good for her!"

I live in Burlington Vermont and I see TONS of breastfeeding mamas. Maybe I live in a more pro-breastfeeding area or something. There are also stickers on some store windows that say, "Breastfeeding welcome here"

I currently live in Israel and have almost never seen a woman nip. the couple of times I've seen it, I've had to stop myself from congradulating the woman!! I've only ever received dirty looks for nip, which I do quite openly without heistation whenever my nearly one year old requests milk. I think nip is a service to the future children of the world whose mamas might feel more confident and supported if nip becomes more common!!

When I lived in Canada I saw lots of nip, but it was mainly people I knew. there was one tiny cafe we'd all hang out at often, as the owners were our friends, and there were occations where there were 4 or 5 mamas nursing their babes in there at once, which was cool...easiest way to eat in peace!!

I live in Portland,OR and I've seen tons of NIP. This city seems very breastfeeding friendly. Actually just today I saw a women nursing her toddler on the MAX (the light rail train).

I nurse at the mall, any restaurant -- pretty much anywhere, except in front of my in-laws. It would make them VERY uncomfortable -- and they're pretty good to me, so...I wouldn't nurse in a bathroom for them though...
