do you make softies/plushies/stuffed-animals?

I'm getting all my scraps together to make some goodies for our kids for Christmas. Since they're still young, I'd like to make them some stuffed animals. Do you make stuffed creatures? I'd love to see some photos if you do! Thank you!

My web portfolio: www.innovativesoftgoods.com

I also make Waldorf inspired dolls of my own design and other natural toys.
If you are interested, PM me.

I've got some free knitting toy patterns here:

http://kimberlychapman.com/crafts/knit-patterns.html

I've also sewed some simple shapes using quilting cloth, which are fast and easy...I don't have patterns up but they're kind of obvious:

Hope this helps.

here and here are pictures of a couple of scrappy stuffed animals I made recently. The first link here has a link to the free pattern I used. They were really easy and turned out pretty cute. I am definitely going to make more. It was fun and I think would be a great little gift.

Thanks, Rowdypea! I love your scrap bunnies too. They look like they're wearing little hoods or cowls. Super-cute!

I have no sewing experience and zero talent, but I recently completed three stuffies. One is a teddy bear of "my own design" (if you could see it, you'd get why I'm laughing!) and the others were a "wee" and a "wee bunny," with patterns downloaded free from www.weewonderfuls.com.

I felted (i.e., shrank) a camelhair/wool thrifted sweater and used the material for the bear and parts of the other stuffies. I happened to have an old, really ragged quilt top from the 30's or 40's (40% falling apart/rotten) and I cut salvagable pieces from it for the "wee" and the bunny. The needle and thread were included in a second-hand darning basket I picked up somewhere, and I even found a half-used bag of polyfill at a thrift store!

My goal is to take my lack of experience and talent, combine them with thrift-store goods and/or hand-me-downs, and hand-make truly recycled presents for everyone on my list this year.

The wee wonderfuls page has great galleries of stuffies and links to other sites. It's a good starting point! Good luck!

Wow! it is all so fun and wonderful! I don't know how to post pictures yet so I can't show you mine. I make much more traditional things but I think I am about to branch out seeing these great toys and dolls!

I am making these for the kids in our plagroup - here are the first 11 http://www.flickr.com/photos/36872391@N00/2110638859/

Considering I haven't sewn since I was a child myself I don't think they look too bad. My head is spinning with ideas and ideas for more.

Oh my gosh, aprons and acorns your things are just so darn cute!

Everyone's things are really clever I just spent like 20 minutes admiring everything!

All I have made so far that could be called a "softie" is a few little fat horses. You can see them in the "me" link
