question about credit

i guessi post this here...

i have NO CREDIT so i got a store credit card (since i cant get a regular credit card) andbought something. now im being told conflicting things....
1person told me that i should pay it off right away(before 6 months) so i get good credit.
another person told me to wait 6 months then pay it off or else its like i never even used the card..

which is true?!?!

I think the most important thing is to always pay on time. I would pay it off immediately. It doesn't make sense to pay interest if you don't have to.

We have always paid off all our credit cards each month and have an excellent credit rating.
