I think it's starting

I have been having regular ctx since about 11 am this morning. I had lunch with a friend who is due in 2 days, got my early voting in, went to the fire station and had the car seat installed, all the while thinking... "hummm, there is another one". During Oprah they started getting stronger, crampier, etc. I haven't officially timed them but they are around 5-10 minutes apart. Still totally managable. I did just have some bowel clearing which is a good sign. I think I'll make some quiona salad with cherries and pumpkin seeds for the midwives just in case this IS it. Oooohhhh, I am getting excited. Hopefully I can rest a bit soon. I hope this is it, I hope, I hope, I hope!!!

We have a winter storm/blizzard warning starting tonight through tomorrow.... maybe that low pressure thing has some merit. I love the idea of laboring while watching the snow falling.....heaven to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Come on baby!!!

Yay,me too!Since 2am i have been having good contractions anywhere from 10 down to every 5 minutes. They radiate from my back to the front.Make me stop and i can feel it going down my legs also.Lots of bowel clearing. The only bad thing is my husband just had to leave town until tomorrow night and there is nothing we can do about him being gone.I have no one to help me with all 4 kids either. So if i do have this babe it will be solo with 4 kids!

Avani - oh my goodness. You're having a homebirth solo with four kids? Well, if this is really labor I sure hope that you have a wonderful, easy birth. Good luck!

I'm just now getting the kids ready for bed.My contrax are still sporadic and going from 5 min-8min apart. They come on strongly when i walk or go to the bathroom but if i just sit they are way more mild.So i'm sitting alot.I feel nervous about being home alone all night. There seems to be more comfort during the day to me but being alone at night in labor is a bit nerve wracking. My last(ooo that was a good, strong contrax)Ouch!birth was through the night and was very peaceful but i had my partner with me.I think the stress of him not being here is making this a bit worse.I don't really want to stall or hinder my body in laboring if this is the right time, just because he can't be here. But all in all i guess this will all work out the way it is meant to.Ok,i'm off to try and rest before this lil one comes. And what a reminder of how different births are.My first was 4 hrs start to finish and my fourth was 14 hours of broken waters with very few contrax and 1 hour of active labor and this one is so far 15 hours of mild (i guess prodromal)labor and just now picking up in intensity.I guess you just can never know!

Alright it is almost 9pm and they are way stronger, way closer together and ouch.I'm feeling tired though so i am going to try and rest.My midwife is an hour away but i don't feel the need to call yet.I hate trying to figure out when to call.No bloody show or water breaking yet.Just consistent, hard contrax and nausea.I so hope i will be holding my lil one by morning. Please, please, please let that happen : i wish we could know how long this all lasts

I hope both of you get the births you dreamed of... (even if your DP can't be there Avani, I hope the rest goes as smooth as silk!)

Hope you both are holding your babes by now

Well, I won't be sleeping well tonight. That's because I caved and had a chai tea at 4pm

Anyway, I'll be thinking of you all - especially you, Avani. Hey, what can it hurt to call your midwife now. You shouldn't wait - you might need her. Don't be nervous - most of this is mental and spiritual, and I'm sure you'll find the sense of peace and inner strength that you need to get you through the night

Another update,it is almost 1am and still contracting heavily but sporadically.I hopped in the bath for awhile and they came every 4 minutes. Then i got out and went on the toilet and then they were every 2 minutes. The problem is it is mostly centered in my back and radiates down to my legs and thighs. So i feel like i almost have a constant contrax happening in my back due to that pain. This baby's back is in my front so i don't understand where this back pain is coming from.It is very frustrating. And painful.I feel like if that could stop i could handle contrax a little better. And i'm thirsty and nauseous still.I have always had pretty fast labors and this one is throwing me for a loop!I am going to call the midwife soon.I just don't want her to come and find out i am only 2-3 cm or something you know? That is just so discouraging!Oh crud that one really, really hurt and i felt like i could almost push on that one.Why i am so discouraged with time.Ack.I just feel like i have been in labor for quite some time and it should be getting over with.I want to hold my baby now please

My update........NADA...... I had very constant ctx yesterday and last night, then around 9 pm they slowed down and I went to bed. I woke up a lot with strong, crampy ones which I feel in my back too, which like you Avani, I don't understand because baby is not posterior. I needed to reheat my rice bag for my back all night just to get back to sleep. I have been up for 2 hours and not had one... I'm a litlle dissapointed, I would love to go for a walk but we have tons of snow and it's still coming down. I'm 41 weeks today so I still have a little time to have this baby.. But crap man, I thought that was it.

Avani, I hope you are doing ok, thinking of you today!!!!!!!!

ColoradoKat - welcome to my world ! I can't believe that I keep getting "fooled" and thinking I'm in labor only to have things just stop. Avani, how are you this morning? I still think you should call the midwife in that situation - after all, you are paying her to stand by. She couldn't be mad at you! Anyway, even if you were only 3cm, you could jump from 3 to 10 in one hour or less. Each labor is different, and any midwife or doctor who blamed women for calling when they thought they were in labor would not be in the field for long. I hope the night went okay for you. Do you have a baby in your arms? I hope your partner gets home very quickly today

Good morning : right after posting here i called my midwife, made it to the edge of the stairs and birthed my lil guy Canyon Sol at 1:53am.He is 7lbs 12 oz with a full head of black hair.We are doing great and the midwife didn't show up for another 1/2 hour or so.My kids heard me birth him and they all ran down and we just hung out on the bottom of the stairs with him attached until the midwife came. What an experience! And i feel so much better. That was the toughest labor i ever had with all that back labor.Hang in there ColorodoKat,the end(and the beginning) is near
