Friend just had baby...I'm feeling a little jealous.

Just a little bit. She was due 10 days before me and I'm 37.5 weeks now. She was right on time with her ds and I was 2 weeks late with mine. She knew she would be early this time and she was. With her son she took 10 hours to give birth to him, this time 4.

I went far past my due date, took 3 days of labor ending in a csection after transfer from homebirth. Now I'm planning an HBAC with the same midwife, whom I adore. I just want so bad for someone to tell me that this birth will come out ok. Basically that I won't go so far as 42 weeks, it won't take 52 hours and my baby will be born safely at home. Oh, and I'll throw in no tearing too for good measure! I feel a bit different this time than I did with ds. I'm really fatigued at the end of the day due to being on my feet as opposed to being sedintary as I was with ds at a desk job. But in a sense I feel the same. I'm not sick of being pregnant. I really like it and that bothers me. I don't want to like it. I want to hate it and wish it would just end. I never felt that way with ds and I kinda feel like I was hanging on to being pregnant, YKWIM? They always say that usually once you start feeling like you can't stand another day of being pregnant you'll be in labor soon.

I feel another month coming on.

Somebody out there has GOT to have a crystal ball!
Stop holding out on me!!!

Feeling anxious (that's so unusual at the end of pregnancy ),

Being active and on your feet is probably beneficial to you. I was a desk jockey and ended up induced for pre-e with #1. You could start taking evening walks too. I only walked a few days before #2 (too hot,-did some floating in the pool also) but I could feel the baby settling lower when I walked; I ended up with a 3hr home birth.

Hope this can cheer you up some.
My first birth was a 50 hour hospital marathon ending in pitocin, epidural etc.
I did eventually birth him vaginally, but felt like my body had let me down big time.
My second birth was a planned homebirth. I expected it to be a lot faster than the first time, because of simply being home. I imagined a really fast labor of around 8-10 hours (in my world that would be a really fast labor)
When I went into labor with my second I had had a couple of days with "practise" contractions - frustrating startup ctx that didnt feel at all like the real thing.
When finally I realised it was the real thing - then I had a 90 MINUTE active labor
I was in shock. My daughter just came shooting out of there without a single active push. It was such a rush!
In other words - it is completely possible to have a first time labor of 50 hours - and a second time labor of 90 minutes..

Making me feel good, ladies!

Keep it coming!
(I love the marathon first birth turned super short second birth! I would like my midwife to make it though. She's 1 1/2 away!! )

oh, me!! i had a three day labor with my first and only realized i was in active labor the second time around less than an hour before DD2 was born. it was only 8 hours from when my water broke and not quite four hours from the first mild ctx. i hope my third is much more like my second. wishing you an "easy" birth and a healthy baby.
