I pulled out my 25 year old Tonka trucks from the garage and I want to clean them up ot give to my son for his birthday/Christmas this year. They've rusted on some parts, is there anything natural that will get rid of the rust or will I be stuck with that LCR or whatever it's called, that nasty chemical stuff? I plan on scrubbing it down with baking soda and vinegar, will that get the rust too?

I would try some steelwool. And wear some gloves!
But then you will need to cover those spots once you get all the rust off...matching paint colors will be tricky. Laquer? Clear nail polish?

You can get spray paints that will cover rust. You can use a steel brush to make the rusty parts smooth again first. You can use steel wool, or even better- steel wool soap pads. Get it wet and rub rub rub. I took all the rust spots off of our dryer this way. I would definitely suggest painting the trucks though. Tape them up well with tape and plastic bags so that the paint doesn't get where it is not supposed to be.

Speaking of paint, could these possibly be lead based paint? They're from the early 80s.
