I think there is a thread on here somewhere, maybe the ttc boards or pregnancy boards or something...it was "how to get pregnant" or something like that. I was IN SHOCK by how many women said "order mama cloth". I was even more in shock a week later when I, too, found out I was pregnant while waiting for my pads to arrive.

Okay, on to the original topic...

I bought one of these...again, only ONE, and I LOVED it. I bought it for post partum and it was VERY effective. http://perfectpads.net/

I got another one too that I liked, but I belive that it stained and it took almost a year to find a way to get it out. It was made from cotton, not microfleese and was a DIFFERENT company than the one above. I'll post if I find it. It was very absorbant though, also with a hemp core.

OMG!! i just realised this suprise pregnancy happened when i got my new moom pads. i got them right when i started and was only able to wear them for that cycle because BAM! worm in the womb!! thats insane...

Completely OT, but the other way to get pg, besides ordering new pads, is to give away all your cloth diapers.

I did that already.. and all my baby stuff, and my maternity clothes. Still not pregnant.

I like the New Moon pads linked on the first page. I don't mind that they don't snap - I'm used to either pinching through the front of the panty or hooking my thumb over it as I pull down.

I dislike wings because I think they pull everything the wrong direction. I'd rather have a "cupped" than a "domed" pad and snaps make them feel domed. I am tempted to try those Perfect Pads just because I'd feel comfortable wearing them to work without a tampon because I could fold them up and snap them like that. That's an appealing feature. I've also looked at Hag Rags because she makes a larger pad and in interesting shapes and they're groovy looking. I think they're the kind you stuff, though.

I think it is good to try one or two styles at first and decide - wings or no wings? Wide or narrow? Shorter or longer? AIO or fold/stuff?

... I prefer hemp though. Softer with each wash and antibacterial, naturally.

I agree with the hemp. Using handmademama.com pads, they're fine (and I'm plus-sized, to respond to Skim's post) but I have a mix of cotton and hemp pads, some cotton with hemp core ... well, anyway, my favorites are the 100% hemp ones. Price was reasonable and she shipped fast (was still in the States when I got 'em, she's in Canada) and was very helpful with suggestions, etc.

The long/large ones (called post-partum or overnights) are also what I use on not-heavy days if I'm wearing white.

But then again, I use a Keeper (cup), so my pads are really for anti-leak-back-up.

That'd be me. I think my size is at least part of the reason I don't care for wings.

Also, unless I'm at home, I wear my pads as back-up.

I really prefer the AIO style, and wings. I really like the look of Ama'z Padz too though... If I used cloth more (I use a UK Mooncup almost exlusively) I would get some to try out. I was initialy atracted to luna pads, but I think Ama'z are a better design, and I like smaller companies.

I acctually really prefer shorter pads, but I would be willing to bet that the WAHM who makes london frogg stuff would probably make longer custom pads. I've talked to her on another board, and she seems really sweet.

I have glad rags, which I like but I have a light flow. The ones I have do not have a waterproof layer.
I made some, but didn't put snaps on them and they all ended up in a public toliet at some point...and didn't come home.
I bought some of ebay from a WAHM, but they are flimsy flannel, not thick flannel and I don't like them.
I'm taking notes...might buy, might make some.

She DOES ship to Israel and I DID get mine in a very timely manner. The problem with shipping here is this...no way to track the package or to insure it.

That being said, Janet (the woman who owns the business) was very nice to work with. She made custom padz just for me and let me mix and match my order. I must also add that she was very well humored about being a muslim woman and shipping to a Jew in Israel. We even had a running joke that we would end the Middle East conflict "one pad at a time". Though I don't know that we ever learned the other's stance on the matter. It is a political issue worth considering if you are trying to decide where to invest or divest your money. And if I said this about Israel, it would NOT be contraversial, oddly enough. Either way, her padz were SO beautiful and I found her to be so accomidating and prompt that I went with her. Don't know how the padz work in practice, though since I never got to use them. And there was one in there that looked like it was made with the end of some material and doesn't quite lay right. I'm hoping that will resolve itself after use and a few washings.

The only ones I have are those from Dina (?) at countrycuttins and I like them alot. She has very nice fabrics, I've had them for a few years and they are still in good condition.

i use these and i love them. theyre one piece, you can get them with wings if you want (and i do) or wingless, snaps (what i use) or aplix to close it, and a ton of different lengths, and a couple different absorbancies too


these are the only ones ive used, but i tried them and like them, so this is what im sticking too

in response to skim, im plus size, and these work well for me.... i use the 10" size

Love my lotus pads. I've been using them for several years now and find they are much thinner than others I've tried. I can wear them with pants without looking like I have a penis Very comfortable and wash well.

If you really can't imagine fastening a safety pin 2 or 3 times a day, here's another solution: Have 4 or 5 pairs of undies just for af. Sew onto the pads a row of the rough side of velcro. sew onto the af panties a row of the soft side of the velcro. Voila, peel and stick pads.
