Come join the November 500 Items Decluttering Challenge!!! - Page 8

My computer crumped on Friday (posting from the library), so I've had plenty of time over the weekend to declutter!

I didn't count as I went (I was on such a roll...) but I estimate and say it was about 35 items. It would have been more, but I overslept this morning and some of it didn't make it out for the trashmen. I'll count them on the next trash day.

I haven't counted every item. But I have filled several big bags.

2 bags of baby clothes given to a friend
1 bag of other baby stuff to the same friend
1 bag of things from ds room (broken toys, books, magazines, half boardgames etc.)
1 bag of kitchen items I never used.

I hope to fill at least 20 bags before the end of this month.

Is it ok. that I post here, even though I don't count items?
You are such an inspiration to me.

Thank you for posting that. It makes me feel better to know that I'm not the only one throwing away food. I always feel like such a heel when I throw food out. It happens far too often to be acceptable around here :

I went clutter hunting today.

Went through the house (including the basement) and filled 10 large bags. I didn't want to think too much about it. I didn't count, maybe I was afraid I would change my mind.

I filled:

2 bags with dh and my clothes
1 bag with ds clothes
1 bag with old bedlinen etc
2 bags with toys from the basement
2 bags with glass containers
1 bag with bottles
1 bag with just all kind of rubbish

And it's all gone! I threw everything away. I really needed this quick clean-up, and if I thought too much about it (like who should I give it to) it just wouldn't get done.

So I have already reached 15 bags.

I desperately need to do this. I scheduled a Big Brother/Big Sister pickup for Friday, so I'm going to count the stuff I put out on the porch, even though it's not technically gone yet.

So far:
21 items in the box.
3 thrown out because they were just too ragged.

Aww, I hope I didn't come off flippant about that. I wasn't even thinking about it being mostly food. I feel like I need to say that I don't enjoy throwing away the food, it was just really pleasurable to get rid of so much clutter in my fridge, yk?

You are definitely not alone. And our worst thing is yogurt. We all love it but seem to go through phases. Sometimes I buy a bunch thinking we will be in a yogurt-mania phase and that's the week that noone touches it. I knwo ho it makes you feel.
Again, s to you mama.

Oh gosh! Not at all. It just made me feel better to see someone else admitting to it I also frequent the frugal living board, and the mamas there are SO good about using every little thing. Every time I clean out the fridge, I feel like such a failure!

Argh! Me too. I keep trying to get rid of one or two things a day, but they end up just getting moved around the house I'm still only up to 100 or so. If I could just get to Goodwill, I could claim at least 40 more things!

But I DID remember to vote today

Last month I met my goal, finally!!! This thread is so busy

Took 17 cardboard boxes to the recycling center. Now that I'm also doing the compact, maybe I won't have so many things shipped to me and won't accumulate so many!

Oh, boy, do I need this thread. I'll be moving two states away next Spring, and I've still got boxes of stuff that I, um, haven't unpacked since 1996. The situation is just totally untenable, so COUNT ME IN. This weekend is going to be a major decluttering fest, and I'll try to do at least a few items before then.

I broke my foot in September and haven't been allowed to put any weight on it since, so the clutter has really started to make itself visible. And the fact that I'm basically housebound means that it's started to grate on my last nerve. :

Wish me luck... 0/500

this has been great, bye bye loud blender that hurts my ears, and all those miscellaneous plastic kitchen pieces that seem to be unmatched and old pans and excess pot lids.

It seems like there were 100 things in my car
