I need help with a schedule..

For me, not the little one

Mindful home management seemed the most logical place for this... if it should go somewhere else, PLMK!

There seem not to be enough hours in the day. I know this cannot be true, as mamas with 6 kids make it look easy Plus when my DD was small, I managed to get things done (she lives with her father right now, so it's not that I have two kids here all the time)

My house is TRASHED. I mean, if someone comes over, I'm tempted to throw on a coat and pull a "I was just running out the door, SORRY!" Like dishes in the sink, crap everywhere... *sigh* it's bad. I just never seem to have time to get anything done! I'm also getting ready to be a part time WAHM. (Just a section in a congo at hyenacart, nothing huge) Alot of it is because our place is SOOOOOO small, but I'm decluttering and trying to get rid of all the STUFF.

I need a schedule. I need to get things done around here. I can't sew when the dishes are screaming at me. I can't take care of DS when there's nowhere safe to put him so I can use the bathroom. I can't even make dinner most days.... I'm not depressed, I'm just overwhelmed.

I need something that I can print up and post on the fridge... something I can look at and say "Oh, it's 2:30, I should be doing this"

Is anyone here super organised and has a schedule like this? If so, post it and help a girl out

You may want to check out Flylady. Browse the control journal section of the website even if you don't decide to subscribe.

And if you decide to subscibe (it's free), it can be a bit overwhelming at first to get all these emails but hang in there and delete the emails if you don't have a chance to get to them.

I don't do Flylady anymore, haven't for a couple years now, but I still get the emails. I just delete them every night and if ever I feel like I should be getting back to it, I'll know to jump right in.

i could use one too... ive tried flylady a few times before, and it didnt work for me. my last day at work is tuesday, and then i will be a sahw, probably for close to a year (dh is in the army, we're in germany, and when we get back to the states he will be in school, and we'll be moving 3 or 4 times). i want something to show me what needs to be done so then i dont fell bad about wasting the rest of my day on the computer, lol....

Yeah... I'm a total flylady dropout. It overwhelmes me worse than I already am.

Hey Daisy,

I just started a schedule that I haven't started yet, but I got the plan going. Basically, I just wrote out all the things I want to do in a day, and I'm going to make a pie chart type thing, and photocopy it and put it on my wall, and fill in the sections of the pie that I got done. I'm a visual person, so I think the novelty will help me (I'm going to use pretty colours! ).

To make it funner still, I'm adding things I LIKE doing, aside from housekeeping, to remind myself to have fun and keep balanced.

Maybe something like this could work for you?

Flylady worked for me, but the secret is the same for most systems. You have to do the same things everyday. Make up a list of what you need to do first thing in the morning.

Load of laundry
empty dishwasher
make beds
15 min. pick-up time

At lunchtime, give yourself a few more tasks
Change laundry to the dryer
Pick up floor
choose one room to clean (or vac or dust)

Evening-the same thing
Fold laundry and put away
pick up crud
get ready for next day

Really, if you do the basic tasks daily the house won't get out of control. That's the only thing the moms of six know and you don't. Since I attach my tasks to getting up, mid-day meal and going to bed I can do them everyday. Doesn't matter what time I get up, I do the same jobs.

I spend about 40 min. a day for a family of six. That doesn't count cooking, but pretty much everything else. It great to sit down, guilt free, irritation free and do what I want. Another biggie is to have the kids work with you. Don't just tell them to pick up. Do it together and pretty soon they will know what to do.

that's what men are for!

Here is an idea I once used for dishes, and it worked well. When I was still with my DH, he HAD to make coffee before doing ANYTHING. So as he stood there like a zombie waiting, I would say, "Hey why don't you do some dishes before that's done?" He would usually do a few without complaint! Ahh... the wonderful power of sugestion!
