Is it twins?

I would just wait the 5 weeks. I had the same feelings you did not to mention I have been pregnant with twins before, but when I went in at 19 weeks I measured right on. Even if I knew I was having twins by palpation & measuring big I wouldn't do an U/S until the end of pregnancy, 36ish weeks, in fear that the pregnancy would become more anxious and worrisome.

Blessings,
Keri

15 weeks is too early to have an accurate (but are they ever "accurate"?) measurement. I think 20 weeks is when the number actually starts to mean something.

As for the other things like shortness of breath, hormones can do that, too. Increased blood amounts, softening of ligaments, relaxation of muscles... all sorts of things can make you feel weird.

I would wait for the next appointment and ask your m/ws what they think. They make spend more time looking for two HBs or palpating more or somehting to put your mind at ease.

Yeah, short of having an u/s, I don't think there is a distinct way to tell. I found out I was having twins at a regular 18w u/s. The hcg numbers have such a large range for "normal" that they are not an accurate predictor. GL!

I've met several people who were sure they were pregnant with twins for a variety of reasons, and none of them have been. Ironically enough, the two people I know who *have* had twins had no clue, one wasn't "diagnosed" until 34 weeks.

I'm not saying to ignore your feelings or intuition; I would never say that. I'm just saying that you should take it with a grain of salt, and not be disappointed if you aren't pregnant with twin. It is definately possible that you are, but finding out until later in the pregnancy won't make any difference, in terms of the health of your pregnancy.

Well, if your sis has twins (as long as they're fraternal) then you may have some heredity working for you. Good luck!

well here is another vote to just wait- I don't take any measure seriously until 20 weeks- how a uterus grows in that time outward or upward changes so fast
sometimes a fundus can get really high then fill out the bowl of the pelvis-- other times the uterus is a bit floped over and dipping more deeply into the pelvis because it can so it seems like a smaller measure but then when it gets wider bump up it comes---

*waves* I vote for slapping two dead fish together over your belly while you lie over a bed of slowly roasting corn husks. The pitch of the sounds made by the fish carcasses when measured against the song of a whale giving birth will give you an entirely accurate picture of whether or not you have twins on board. I totally guarantee it

LOL, Janet.

If you want something to 'do' while you wait, up the anty on your protein consimption considerably. I just found out I have twins when I was 22 weeks and I am terribly behind in weight gain. Now I eat over a 100 g protein a day and strive for 3000 calories.

Good luck. maybe we'll see you later in the multiples section!

Where did you come UP with that?

Childbirth has tampered with my socialisation components so I think of all manner of inappropriate stuff without even trying. Scary, hey?!
