Whats your height and weight: I'm 5'2.5" and I started my first pregnancy weighing 120 lbs. I maintained that until my last two... I have since crept up to 135 lbs prepregnancy.
First babies weight: 8 lbs 11 oz
Second babies weight: 9 lbs 5 oz
Following babies: 8 lbs 15 oz, 7 lbs 3 oz, 7 lbs 13 oz, 9 lbs 10 oz, 10 lbs 11 oz
Birth (natural, epi, vbac): 1st birth was c/sec... 2nd was hospital VBAC w/epidural, 3rd was hospital VBAC with 1/2 dose fentanyl at 9 cm, 4th was hospital VBAC with no meds, 5th was homebirth VBAC, 6th was homebirth VBAC, 7th was homebirth VBAC. I would have started homebirths with #3, but hubby took more convincing.
How did you labor (back, knees, side, standing): 1st...in bed. 2nd... in bed. 3rd... walked, in shower, on birth stool. 4th... in bed. 5th... draped over a birth ball on hands and knees. 6th... walked, hands and knees, in bed. 7th... hands and knees, did McRoberts maneuver due to shoulder dystocia.

Hope this helps! I'm a pretty small person... I have a light bone structure, and have VBAC'd these big linebackers with little problem. I fully expect to VBAC the one currently gestating at home in a few months.

My case isn't vbac but maybe it will help. I'm a big believer that you can't gauge what size baby will "fit" from a given size mama

Whats your height and weight: 5'2" and 115ish prepregnancy with my DS, 111 prepregnancy with this baby
First babies weight: 8lbs 4oz (certainly not that big but not small)
Second babies weight: To be determined
Birth (natural, epi, vbac): natural (not a vbac), used hypnobirthing, 6hrs 20 mins total from water breaking, and less than 20 mins of pushing. Only a teeny tear.
How did you labor (back, knees, side, standing): Labored mostly while walking around listening to my hypnosis CDs. I did use a birthing ball, some tailor sitting, all 4s, and spent some time laboring in the tub

So while DS certainly wasn't a huge baby, I feel like I could have pushed out a bigger baby with relative ease...pushing wasn't bad at all for me and went quick for a first time mom. Crossing my fingers for a similar experience this time around. Oh, and I'd say with hypnobirthing, 90% of my labor was painless to mild cramping.

Whats your height and weight: I am 5'2 and 95lbs not pregnant (122 at term w/last baby)

First babies weight: 8lbs 0oz

Second babies weight: 10lbs. 6oz.

Birth (natural, epi, vbac): 1st baby: epidural in hospital, had vaginal birth w/episiotomy. I labored in bed on my back. And my 2nd baby (my 10lber): labored at home, did hands and knees, walked, and was in a labor tub. Had a homebirth with absolutely no tears. He did have a shoulder dystocia, but it was handled well and we did not have to transfer.

stats for my teeny tiny natural birthing friend:

Whats your height and weight: 4ft 10.5 inches. start of g1, 102 lbs (not skinny, very curvy, picture lil' kim. )
First babies weight: 1lb 15 oz (25.5 wks)
Second babies weight: 6lb 12 oz (38 wks)
Third babies weight: 9lbs 5oz (41.5 wks) ok, the only REALLY big one, and not even that big
Fourth babies weight: 7lbs 5 oz (41.5 wks)
Birth (natural, epi, vbac): all four labor started w/out induction, no pain meds, p1 was epis. w/forceps after 5 days on mag., but 2-4 was labor of 4 hrs average.
How did you labor (back, knees, side, standing) labored at home for p2-4, arrived at hospital pushing, number 3 took some extra work, medwife "allowed" mom to turn and face raised back of bed and squat, mom then got out of bed and used sheets to pull on, got back in bed, pushed twice and out came a 9+ pounder. 2-4 no rips or tears, not even skid marks. (mama has great collagen, g4 w/no stretch marks on tummy)

What's your height and weight: 5'7'' and 125 lbs prepregnancy and that was a bit heavy for me. Although I'm a little taller, I have a small frame and, in particular, very narrow hips.
First baby's weight: 9lbs. 6 oz.
Birth (natural, epi, vbac): I had a natural homebirth.
How did you labor (back, knees, side, standing): I labored mostly on my side, hands and knees, and on the toilet (I had very painful back labor although ds was positioned well). I pushed him out by about 1 hr on hands and knees and the next 1.5 hrs on my side with my feet in the air.

I hope everyone's responses are encouraging to your friend!

Whats your height and weight: 5'4" and 120 lbs pre-pg

First babies weight: 8 lbs 7 oz, 20.5 in

Second babies weight: 10 lbs 1 oz, 22 in

Birth (natural, epi, vbac): No c/s with #1, but close.
#1: hospital birth ended up with pit, epidural, and vacuum suction :
#2: homebirth and no tearing!:

How did you labor (back, knees, side, standing): #2 I labored mainly in water, floating "on" back and kneeling over side of pool; also on toilet, in shower, and on bed after transition while waiting for urge to push. Head pushed out in pool, rest of body while on bed due to stuck shoulders (not true dystocia though)

HTH! Small mamas can have big babies! Everyone is always amazed at how big my DS was when they see me, but it just goes to show it can be done!

There are soo many moms on the ICAN email list who were sectioned for CPD, told they were too small or their baby too big, and who went on to have even bigger babies vaginally.

My own sister who is 5'2" had a vbac with her 10lb baby even though she was on her back for pushing & her OB didn't know to turn her on hands and knees or to try McRoberts when the shoulders were slow to emerge - she did it anyway!

You might like to forward to her the article "Pelvises I Have Known and Loved" by Gloria Lemay - it's easy to find by googling & addresses the common fears about small pelvises & big babies.
