MM fleece: 200 wt or 300 wt?

I want to make pocket diapers with fleece outers. How does MM 200 wt compare to MM 300 wt? I live in the tropics and I'd like to cut down on the weight and bulk if possible, but I don't want to use windpro due to the chemicals involved. Also, will 300 wt be leakproof at night?

MM300 wt is denser and thicker than 200wt, most mamas do not find that a single layer of 200wt is sufficient for overnight. But with any weight fleece, I think the key is to have a good absorbant diaper underneath.

Personally, I would go with wool if I were you. Breatheable, light, comfortable. Something like wool jersey or knitted wool won't be too hot, wool insulates the body from heat as well as from cold.

Whatever you chose though, consider shorts instead of a snug cover. The open legs really increase air circulation while keeping you and the baby's surroundings nice and dry.

I would use Windpro if you can find it. I don't know what chemicals you mean. My understanding is that it's only got chemicals if DWR has been added and I get the stuff without. It's nice and trim and can be used in a single layer. I wouldn't use wool for a pocket, only for a cover since you probably don't want to wash your wool each time you use it.

I haven't used 200 or 300 wt fleece, so I can't comment. I think that a lot of people who were using 300 wt have made the switch to windpro from what I've read.
