Our son arrived! (finally!) on October 19. We had a fabulous labor experience (labored at home, water broke, mom and doula came over...) got to the hospital at 6 cm, labored drug-free the entire time, but the big guy was stuck in a posterior military position, and wouldn't budge... plus he was over 10 lbs 3oz! We tried everything, even the vacum. The midwives, DH and our doula were amazing... (could have done without the nurse, though, who thought she was an expert, and kept saying she had to coach me before her shift ended...) So after a very long second stage labor, we ended up with another c... which wasn't necessarily a bad thing -- apparently, from my last c, my bladder had adhered to my uterus during the healing. So that's fixed too. Now just need to have my kidney stone blasted.

oh yes - his name is vincent kaiser alfred. we still call him cashew.

I had a second cesarean as well, even though I was working toward a VBAC. However, the silver lining (other than us both doing very well) is that they repaired a hernia next to my previous incision. Therefore, no need to go back in to have it fixed later. I'm very happy with the outcome

I hope your recovery period is short and that you're enjoying your babymoon

Welcome, Vincent! Way to go, mom! How serendipitous that they caught the bladder adhesion problem . . .

Congratulations! I hope you feel like you really reached that primal center of your wonanhood even though the last stage was a surgery. Sounds like you worked so hard and felt supported. A friend of mine who had a similar birth as you says she had her home labour and drug free birth. She really felt like she had a compleate birth experience. I hope you do to.
