...on Thursday night (10-26) at 9:45 pm. She weighed in at 7 pounds and was 19.5 inches long. There were complications during birth. I ended up getting stuck at 7 cm for over 6 hours and couldn't progress through. I was dehydrated, tired, and damn - it hurt! So, we ended up going to the hospital and thank goodness we did. The monitor showed fetal distress and I had to have an emergency c-section. She had inhaled meconium and wasn't breathing when she was born.
BUT, she's doing better today. There were some seizures in the first day which were controlled by medications as well as the fact that she is on antibiotics for 7 days to avoid any infections from the meconium. Her brain EEG, EKG, and brain CT scans have all come back relatively normal so we are hopeful that she will be brought home on Friday morning!!!
I'm off to the hospital now to feed her though, I have been able to breast feed her for 2 days and it's going fairly well. She always poops once I get her on my breast! There is definitely nothing wrong with her bowels!!!
