My legs feel weird...

I was curious if anyone else is getting a strange sensation in their legs when they lay down at night. I feel this uneasy, nervious feeling, like my legs want to get up and run around or that my muscles want to contract. Its a very strange feeling and even when I get up and walk around it doesn't help. Anyone else out there feeling this way??

I haven't had that. It sounds annoying, though! Your description sounds somewhat like Restless Leg Syndrome, but I don't know much about it. Is it something you've had for a while?

I agree it sounds like restless leg syndrom- and I think it's something pregnant women get sometimes, but maybe it's not related. I also don't know much about it.

I've had it, but more often during the day when I have to sit still for a long time and can't get up and move around. It may be related to the whole charley horse thing that some pregnant women get. Make sure you are getting enough calcium and magnesium: that can help.

I have it and it can be very frustrating. I also suffer from it when not pregnant. Essentially there isn't much that can be done about it but just learn to cope with it. At least that is what I do.. I know there are some meds out there but I won't take them. When it happens at night I stick my feet under my dh's legs and the pressure usually helps to settle them down.

Carlson Liquid Cal Mag gives me relief. For me those are the symptoms I feel before a full blown charley horse. A Midwife and a Doctor have recommended them to me, while pregd.

Sounds like restless leg syndrome to me, too. I get it during my pregnancies, and later in my pregnancies I often get nasty charley horses as well.

The things that help me cope with it:

• No sugar or carbs before bed
• Potassium and/or calcium before bed...you can combine the two by making a banana shake with bananas, milk, and a couple ice cubes
• Talking DH into giving me a massage
• A hot bath before bed, followed by lotion on my feet and legs

I hear this can be horrible, I feel for any Mum's dealing with it. But I argree that is sounds like RLS and I know there are meds for it that are "compatible" with preg but not with breastfeeding...from what I have heard.

I get that too, but sometimes it feels like I have restless body syndrome. I just feel restless all over. Stretching helps me a lot. And making sure I get to bed on time.
