Dr. Brown will discuss all the bizarre stuff kids do-what's normal and when
you should be worried.

To see when the Rachael Ray show airs in your town, click here:

(I'm told that the Dr. will take a question about a toddler bfing her doll, and she replies that the mom is the dd's best role model, and she congratulates her on modeling such health behavior)

This on the show that will air today, Oct 31.

I saw it. I was surprised that the mom thought it was weird for her dd to be doing it

I saw it this morning. The mom didn't really think it was "wierd", just wanted to know if it was normal.

The pediatrician who answered the question said it was a beautiful gift the mom was giving her kids - them seeing that breastfeeding is perfectly normal.

I saw this bit too (but not the whole show). I thought the Mom who asked about her daughter pretending to bf sounded a bit freaked out.... I liked the doctors response. I mean, the daughter probably immitates changing diapers, rocking, etc. the baby, so why would bf be of concern specifically?

My son talks about giving nana to DS #2 due to January....

I actually read a post from a lady who's friend was so freaked out about her dd bfing her doll that she was considering removing all the dolls from the little girl's possession. And the poster herself was all icked out by pics of dc bfing their dolls. Naturally I posted links to pics of the same thing that icked her out.

wow, what do you think she would say if she knew my 3 year old boy pretended to nurse a doll when my ds2 was born
post #8 of 9
my ds1 has been "nursing" his dinosaurs, cars, teddy bears, stuffed dog, etc. He "tried" to nurse his baby brother. He even picked up a pumping horn, pulled up his shirt and "pumped" milk.

Kids model what they see and know.

He also is "cooking" a lot of food in his new kitchen and pretending going to the grocery store.

I don't think I agree with the bedwetting information -- I don't think it has anything to do with motivation! I'm very glad my son's dad isn't reading that because he was convinced that it was laziness. It's developmental and they'll outgrow it when they outgrow it.

But the nursing response was right on!
