Kerrygold Butter

I was really excited today when I went to the grocery store and saw the Kerrygold butter (I've never seen it in the stores around here). Anyway for 8 ounces I paid $3.89!!! Pretty expensive, but still bought it . Anyway I wonder for you all who purchase this butter is it usually this expensive, and are there other good comparable butters that are cheaper? Thanks!!!

it's very expensive at our grocery store but about $1 per pkg. cheaper at trader joes. hopefully there's one near you and you can stock up.

I pay about .50 less per package. Butter is just expensive though. I pay about the same price for Organic Valley butter at my HFS. My regular grocery store (Publix) doesn't carry OV butter they do carry Kerrygold. I wish we had a trader joe's!

I just tried the Organic Valley cultured butter and I love it ! I even like it much more than Kerrygold. It's also from grass-fed cows, and here I get 4 sticks for $5.99.

I do love the Organic Valley cultured butter. I think it tastes more buttery than other butters. I still do buy Kerrygold quite a lot though. I believe it's about the same price where I am. The OV cultured butter is slightly less at $5.99 for a lb.

I've tried the Kerrygold and the OV, but recently found OV european style cultured butter. It comes in a gold package and is the same size as the Kerrygold and is even more yellow than the regular OV. How do they do that? My DD tries to eat it straight from the wrapper (so I slice little bits off for her). I paid around $3 for KG and OV euro style.

has anyone tried the Jana Valley butter from New Zealand? It's as orange as my raw summer butter from Vermont. And of course, in New Zealand they always grass feed. It's as far away as you can get from local, though!

find someone who lives in the Bahamas, or take a vacation!

My grandmother was living in the Bahamas, they sold Kerrygold in the tubs there for $1.35 and my favorite butter, Elle & Vire (french, very creamy and salty, almost like cheese) for *eighty eight cents*!!! Both of these butters are close to $5 where I live. I got them so cheap, I'd even use them for baking, yum! Anyway, when my grandma would have to come to the states every year to do taxes, she'd bring me 20 or so butters, frozen, on the plane. I have them in the freezer and can use them the rest of the year. So if you know anyone going there on vacation, and they ask if you need anything... And try the Elle & Vire if you can, it is sooo yummy.
