Does anybody know about the different houseplants that are piosonous? I know about the dumbcane, poinsetta, mmmmmm I cant think about any others at the moment.
There is a good list in "The Baby Book" by Dr. Sears. Pointsettia actually is not all that dangerous. English ivy is poisonous.
You might be able to get a list by calling your regional poison control center, usually listed in the emergency numbers of your phone book.
The animals have to take their chances if they choose to nibble on the potted plants, a clearly illegal activity for my pets. I'm only worried about what the child might eat.
Most house plants have the potential to be poisounous I think because one of the things a lot of house lpants do is pull toxins from the air, and if they do that the toxins must be going into the plant.
There's a great book called "growing Fresh Air" and while it doesn't talk about the poisonous issue (I don't think) it lists lots of plants and tells what toxins they absorb.
