Good question.

I know Peace Lilies are cuz I moved my giant out.

Philodendrum are also, but I've wrapped the vines up high.

There are 3 categories. These 2 will make them sick, but are not lethal. I read it's like chewing/swallowing glass shards.

I'm guessing Boston Fern are just fine since mine continues to get nibbled on.

There is a good list in "The Baby Book" by Dr. Sears. Pointsettia actually is not all that dangerous. English ivy is poisonous.

You might be able to get a list by calling your regional poison control center, usually listed in the emergency numbers of your phone book.

The animals have to take their chances if they choose to nibble on the potted plants, a clearly illegal activity for my pets. I'm only worried about what the child might eat.

I just found this website regarding poisonous plants.

Most house plants have the potential to be poisounous I think because one of the things a lot of house lpants do is pull toxins from the air, and if they do that the toxins must be going into the plant.

There's a great book called "growing Fresh Air" and while it doesn't talk about the poisonous issue (I don't think) it lists lots of plants and tells what toxins they absorb.

a book:

Baby-safe houseplants & cut flowers : a guide to keeping children and plants safely under the same roof
by John I. Alber, 1990.

I don't think it has been reprinted.

I received mine free as a library discard. Imagine that!
