I am at my wit's end with this and was curious if anyone has had similar experiences. I have closed two accounts with Comcast in the past couple of months.
When we moved I cancelled the account from the old house and then when we couldn't find a better alternative in the new place I opened a new account here. Then the service was so bad and we decided we didn't need cable tv so we cancelled that one nearly a month ago.
Thing is they have myseriously double- and triple-billed us both times.
The frsit time, it was DH who closed the account and paid the final bill, but he paid it by phone. Lots of things were disorganized--new baby, moving, school, and so when a bill for sixty bucks showed up I paid it. Then another bill showed up two weeks late for $36 and I called to protest and oops! I don't owe them anything, no idea why they sent a bill.
When we cancelled the second account I went in to return the equipment and cancel. I was cancelling one day before the end of the billing cycle and had just paid the bill so I confirmed with the person there that I didn't owe anything. Since then I've gotten a bill for $65 and a bill for $114. The $114 bill is really cute since we had this account for one month only and the monthly fee was $70. I went back in, bills in hand, and was told *loudly and publicly* that the reason I owed them money was bc I'd written a bad check. This is cute because I had an image of the cancelled check from my bank. It was soooo not a bad check, and the bank has confirmed it both through the online banking site and by phone. But now Comcast wants me to go into the office (and wait in line and deal with their rudeness) to show a copy of the cancelled check. A PITA. It gets even weirder too. They debited the amount of my check the same day they recieved it and creidted my accoutn. If I'd written a bad check, wouldn't it take a day or three to go to the bank and get turned down? (Moot point; my account was very full then, it was the beginning of the semester. It was not a bad check.)
So I'm getting ready to go fight with them again, but am now questioning the extra payment on the first account. And I'm wondering, if anyone is still reading this, if anyone has had similar experiences and/or suggestions how to handle it?
We were supposed to spend part of the day Friday going to both our old banks and closing down old account; now I'm concerned about even doing that. And it's getting really old. I cancelled service with them on Oct. 5 and they are still messing with me.
