What site do you use to buy/sell your college textbooks?

I'm starting up school again and I was wondering what sites you may have had good/bad experiences with.

I buy and sell all my textbooks on ebay. For this quarter I bought a psych book that sells at the college bookstore for $120. On ebay it was $75 and it came with the additional supplements that I was going to have to buy anyways. There are soem pretty good deals. I suggest getting the names, ISBN No. and price from the college bookstore. That will help you to comparison shop. I usually do it as soon as the books are available at the bookstore.

I've used half.com --which I think is now ebay, to buy text books I've sold text books using the Barnes and Noble website--it is pretty good. You put in the ISBN # and it will tell you online how much they will pay you for it, you send them the books, and they foot the shipping cost and send you a check in the mail.

Yes, half.com is Ebay. How come you do not sell on Half.com as well as buy? I will definately check out BN. My dh has been buying at the book store and they are sooooo much more expensive for used.

I always check amazon and half, and buy from whichever is cheaper (make sure you factor in shipping costs, which are higher on amazon... but azon is still cheaper sometimes). I open two windows, type the ISBN into the seacrh box on one site, and copy before hitting enter, then go to the other window and paste it in and click enter. It's quick, and I can see both prices.

I do the same in reverse when selling.

Again with the half.com here, but if I can't find something there, I usually can find it used from Barnes & Noble. I've had bad luck with amazon on other purchases, so I tend to stay away now. Also, Books-a-million sometimes has good deals on new books. I had to buy 10-11 different paperbacks for a class and got them all there, cheap w/ free shipping.

Good luck with school!

I use amazon almost strictly, I've tried half.com and ebay but I never get as good prices there or else things just don't sell. I buy most of my books on amazon too.

I've only had one bad experience with amazon, somebody claimed I didn't ship a book (which I did) and I didn't reply fast-enough to prevent amazon from refunding the $$ - thankfully it was like a $3 paperback fiction book, not a textbook. Check your junk mail and sign into your account to check if you suspect it's a spoof.

go to www.bigwords.com.
You put in the ISBNs of all the books, and they look up several companies (including amazon and half.com and the amazon marketplace, plus several otehrs) then they report back They even figure out which combo would be cheapest when shipping is figured in. They do the same for buy backs. It is awesome. And, after you use them, they send you cool, free stickers!

I've been selling my used books on Amazon. Things seem to sell quickly and I'm decluttering as well.
