Ethics have been addressed on LactNet several times...maybe after you read? There was one letter in particular that was posted that talked about it from the ethical perspective of the LC's withholding info that would damage the bfing relationship.

IBLCE Scope of Practice

It's so nice to know that people who have had help from an IBCLC are as concerned about it as we have been! If you do decide to write to the board, it might be helpful to tell them stories of how a Lactation Consultant helped you when you had been given different advice by another health care provider. I think Lactation Consultants try to be tactful and if they can, to word things carefully, such as "well, another thing you might try is...." and make an effort to not insult another health care practitioner in front of a mom, even if they did give bad advice. But as many people have pointed out, there would be no way for us to do what is in the best interest of the mother and baby if we could never disagree with what she has been told by someone else.

Lucy (IBCLC for 10+ years)

Alleluia. They had to have known that they were handing doctors a hammer to use on their members! Because the only one who would complain about an IBCLC giving out advice that contadicts the doctor...is the doctor!
