Anyone know where to dh's semen checked for cheap?

Dh had the big V two years ago. I have heard so many stories of people getting pg after that surgery, so we want to get him checked every year or so just to make sure it's still working. He just found out that insurance won't cover it and I'm sure it's expensive going through the doctor's office and being sent to the lab. Is there anyplace that you know of that would test him for cheap? Would planned parenthood do that kind of thing? Thanks!

I think through our hospital it was only like $90 or so. Our insurance ended up covering it so I'm not positive, but I had checked on it when I thought we'd have to pay out of pocket.

there was a thread here within the last month that listed a place where you could send away for it by internet and do it at home.

Thanks! I'll do a search. I called Planned Parenthood yesterday and they will do it for $45. I think we can find it cheaper if we shop around.

If you are simply checking for prescense of sperm, you can get the home test. it's $30, and will tell you if he has any sperm or not..but won't tell you anything about motility or anything.....You collect the sperm....via the..ummm..hand method OR (my dh loved this part) a special chemical-free condom that you use to have sex, and then empty the contents into the testing tube.....you mix some stuff and then, if there is sperm, it turns blue...you match the shade of blue up to a control, to see approx how many sperm there are.....the darker blue, the more sperm...so technically, your dh's sample should stay clear.......if you see blue...ummm....yikes!
