At the post office today

Thread Starter
I mailed out Emily's gobble-and-go hippo (I sold it to an MDC mama) and Emily was very upset (she hasn't played with it in about 6 months, but once we're ready to get rid of it, it's the best toy ever!) Emily was very mad while I was working with the postal worker to have it packaged, and she was starting to crying hysterically. I felt bad, but I knew that if we brought it home, she would start ignoring it as soon as we got home, so while the postal worker was packing it up, I ran out to the car with Emily and got my mei tai. I put Emily in it and started nursing, and no one said anything! There was a long line of people behind me, and they probably could see that I was trying really hard to calm Emily down. I was ready with a bit of snark though, if someone asked me to do that somewhere else, I would have said, "Ok" moved one step to the left and said, "Is this better?"

Isn't it disappointing when you have your snarky comeback all worked out, and no one says a word to you?

Better to be prepared I suppose. OTOH, I never got snark from strangers, and don't like the idea that we have to be prepared to be defensive.

Maybe someday...

I have yet to use any of my snarky comebacks.

Good one!

I think if you approach NIP with the attitude "I'm feeding/comforting my baby- why WOULDN'T I do this here?" then you're less likely to get those negative remarks in the first place.

I've come to believe that preparing a comeback prevents negative remarks. Maybe there's something in the eyes of a mama who's ready to parry and riposte?

gotta remember that one... I'm glad I've got a lot of these stored away just in case... don't you just HATE it when you're at a loss for words and think of the perfect thing to say later?
