Dental vent!

Thread Starter
I posted here many months ago about my lost filling. I made an appointment, and the earliest they could see me was 6 weeks later. I had something come up(I think I was sick) and so I had to cancel. Luckily, dh had an appt for the next week and so he swappped with me. So, I went in and the dentist was a very nice very calm older man. HE gave me no grief about how long it had been since mmy last filling(it sounds like confession, doesnt it?) I asked him if he did nonamalgam fillings and he said yes, but medicaid wouldnt cvoer it and I would need to pay out of pocket, and it would be $72. He also said I needed a cavitron cleaning. I told him I would think about the filling and choose for my next appt. He told me the cavitron cleaning would have to be rescheduled too, bc it took half an hour. SO, I rescheduled(another 6 week wait) and went on my way. I came in at 6 weeks and told him I did want to do the non amalgam. He had a lot of shock to that, as if it werent even talked about. He told me he would want to do the light cured plastic and I would have to reschedule, bc that was a half hour procedure. I asked him what i should do in the meantime and he said chew on the other side. SO, his wife wasdoing the books and had no clue what she was doing. She made me an appt for the next week. Then she called me back when I got home and said that wasnt an appt time. She rescheduled for april 3rd at 1pm. I had her repeat it and i wrote it down. Well, I come in at 1 on april 3 and there was no appt for me. aThere was another woman who had an appt that didnt exist. SO, she rescheduled it for this past Tuesday. So, we were planning to be out of town on tuesday and cancelled it so I could keep my appt. The dentist is actually retiring in May, so the pressure is really on to get this done. I have the cavitron appt on april 30,, we'll see if it happens. So, I was awkened at around 8 am by the dentist office, Dr k#*#( is sick, we will need to reschedule. Let me call you back to reschedule. Now, I had gotten in after midnight the day before after driving 400 miles round trip, and now I have to stay up for her to call back. I finally realized that she was not going to call back anytime soon, so I went to bed. She never called the whole day. She called me on wednesday when I was out, at around 1 pm. I called her back at 3, and got the machine saying their office hours are until 5. SO, I left a message. Never heard back until the next day, when I was out. I got back and called her, adn got the machine again. This morning she calls at about 7:15. My mom told me dr kennedy's office was ont he phone. I told her I am still sleeping, takre a message. Mom told her that and got a "I forgot some people sleep late" sort of response. Ok, 7 is sleeping late? I guess. So, i got up and had to take my ds to the doctor, I got back and dh was on the computer, tying up the line. SO, I called them at about 1, to hear that on Friday they close at 12. SO, it is probably 6 months now that I have been trying to get this filling replaced and I am going to be absolutely ballistic if it finally gets done and I need a root canal. I have an absolute phobia of dentists, so it has been horrible to have this thing hanging over me like a lead balloon.
Thanks for listening to my vent.

I remember your story, and I gotta admit that this one here takes the cream for living in Roswell too

Is there another dentist in town? This one sounds like he's not retiring one day too soon :

Come vent and spout whatever you want ~ and let us know what happens. Good luck, it sounds like you need it by the buckets

That is rediculous. Find another dentist. it sounds like they are giving you the medicaid run around. Pay for it yourself if you have to. You would be surprised at how fast you get in for self pay It took us 1 week. We never did get an appointment when we were on medicaid after months and mohnths of trying. Coninsedence? i think not.
