Others have already touched on this, but I have found in my circle of mainstream friends a strongly held belief that bfing, if your going to do it, should last no more than a year. I think it comes from the AAP's minimum guidelines, that many people think is the maximum recommendation. I read an article a few months ago that the AAP was trying to get the word out that the one year mark is a minimum recommendation, but it has become very ingrained in people's heads. Plus, the fact that a lot of pediatricians are telling all moms (ffing or bfing) to switch to whole cow's milk at one year doesn't help.
