Why is my period stupid?

Since I first got it...28 days - EVERY month. Comes like clockwork, could set a timer to it. Whenever I got it postpartum...28 days/clockwork! Got my 1st PPP for after this babe well over a month ago...um, so where did it go?

Is there some reason it would just STOP like that? I know it's probably normal, but they have always been SO regular, it does concern me...

Insights?

It's really strange, but when we were TTC DD, as soon as we started I didn't have a period for 6 months. I had never been very regular, but had never went that long before without having one. My GYN gave me Provera to get me started and I conceived that month. I don't know... Someone told me that nerves and stress can cause it, or worrying too much about conceiving or not conceiving.

I see in your sig that you have 4 kids... hmmm, is there a polite way to say this? I'm assuming you're not on the younger end of the spectrum. Cycles tend to get further apart as you get older. It seems to be common for women to get their period back later after a baby and to have more time between periods the more kids they have/older they get. It could just be that the combination of age and nursing is now enough to mess up your regularity.

I'm pretty impressed that you had 28 day cycles for so long, and always got right back into them once you started af again after pregnancy! I can see how you would be worried after all that time of such regularity.

Thanks!
I'm not that old, LOL!
Still nothing, uggh, I even took a pregnancy test. Definatly negative.
I was kind'a glad to be fertile again - we want to TTC starting in Jan. - but it may have to wait if this continues. Oh well...if it's due to nursing I can live with it.
Thanks for the input!

I know. I could have 4 kids by now, if I hadn't miscarried in April, and I'm 27. But, you never know.

Could you be anemic?

Actually, I am. Do you think this is why? The only reason I would say "no" is cuz I have been that way for a looooong time...

It's very possible. I don't have any research, but I know friends and myself who were anemic, especially 7 m PP...and once they increased their iron intake: foods and supplements....their periods regulated again....

That's good info. - thanks!

What I mean by "long time" is...well, years. When I was pregnant with DC1...9 yrs. ago they told me I was anemic...and with every one since then, every time blood is drawn I get the "anemia" speil. I feel totally normal though so I tend to not worry about it.
But this is something to consider then...

hey.. no worries.. I've been bleeding for two months (yay me :|)

Excessive bleeding can also be caused by anemia. Or cause anemia. Which makes it worse. Or by a fibroid. Have you had this checked out? Also, progesterone levels being way off can cause this problem. Chaste Tree Berry (Vitex agnus-castus) helps with this.

rmzbm: Try this tonic:

Yellow dock and dandelion root in water, make a tea, make a decoction, add blackstrap molasses. Cool. drink 2T in 1 c. water each day or twice a day....

I'll look up the measurements.

Paraphrased from Aviva Jill Romm's recipe:

Put 1/2 ounce each of yellow dock and dandelion roots into a quart jar. Fill with boiling water. Cover and steep for 4 to 8 hours. Strain the liquid into a small pot. Simmer uncovered until the liquid is reduced to 1 c. Add 1/4 to 1/2 c. blackstrap molasses, stir well, and turn off heat. Pour into a jar, cool to room temp, label, and store in the fridge. It will keep for many months. Dosage is 1 to 2 T daily. Take each dose with 250 mg of vit C for enhanced iron absorption. Do not take with other multivits.

If this does not improve the situation, remember there are several different kinds of anemia. Luckily these herbs are safe in pregnancy and beyond. And they have other good qualities as well.

Thanks mama v!

angel... - WOW! A friend of mine had that happen - I wish I could remember what the reason was but I can't... I do recall that she got really sick to her stomach while this went on & she lost a lot of weight...
