Let's see some numbers. (wait a sec, for me to put the poll together). Anon, of course, unless you want to post too.

C'mon somebody, post, , I don't feel very anonymous here yet.

I thought it might be fun to see, in conjunction with the USA Today article telling us all how STDs will be prevented by circumcision.

Never had one, but only been with 2 circ'd guys.

Anybody have the percentages handy of what percentage of the American population has herpes or HPV, even if asymptomatic?

I am STD free YAH never had one, been a smart girl, well DH and I were virgins, I did sleep with his BF : Hey I was 17 we were dating for 7 months, but he was a virgin until he dated my BF who was also a virgin, yes we all were really virgins If DH was gone I would never get a man again, because STD testing would be mandatory be for any hanky panky!! They were both circ, well I think, I never seen the other guys penis.

Yeah, wish I could help but I've never had one... only been with DP and he's circ'd. (He's only been with me as well though.)

Sorry, but I've never had an STD, nor has my husband - who is circ'd. (Actually, I'm not really sorry about it but for the sake of the poll, I regret I can't be of any help!)

I've had one. Caught from a circ'd guy.

ETA: And...I also wanted to say that catching an STD doesn't necessarily have
anything to do with intelligence.

'It is estimated that as many as one in four Americans have genital herpes, a lifelong (but manageable) infection, yet up to 90 percent of those with herpes are unaware they have it.'

'by age 50, at least 80 percent of women will have acquired genital HPV infection. Most people with HPV do not develop symptoms.'

Don't speak too soon, you 73%ers , unless you were both virgins & have been monogamous since.

I have HPV and it came from a circ'd male in the midwestern US.

Yeah, Willows is right about 'smart' if by smart you mean you 'used condoms'; they don't protect against HPV at all. Fancy that!

I don't really think that we can say that being circ or not circ has to do with STD'S. That's just not right, If someone has an STD it is because they got it from someone, weather there are intact or not KWIM

I can see I should've made the category 'possibly asymtomatic, never been tested', unless we have a lot more virgins-till-monogamously partnered here than I suspected!

Ilovemy2ds, because of a particular current news article saying circumcision prevents stds, that is precisely what we are trying to get some figures on.

Argh, is it possible to edit this poll & account for all the virgins?

(And if anyone get pissy because they think I am suggesting that though they were sexually active & have no symptoms, yet were never tested, that they may have STDs they don't know about, why yes, that's what I'm saying. Statistics don't worried about insinuations & hurt feelings, and anything as ubiquitous as STDs need to stop being stigmatized. Fear of knowledge promotes STD spread.)

The closest I came to an STD was getting PID, earlier this year, after giving birth to dd and getting an IUD...even though I didnt have an STD, the docs at urgent care sure made me feel like I had one though: SO is circ'd....and I have very little experiance w/ uncirc'd...

I got herpes from a guy's cold sore (I told him to be careful with that stupid thing ) He was circ'd but that didn't have anything to do with it. I had to get it tested and it's type one which is better than type two as far as vaginal delivery BTW.

Yup. Herpes simplex 1 is endemic to about 99% of humans, so if you've had oral sex without a condom or dental dam, congrats! You've been exposed!
