fave cloth dipes

What have your fave cloth dipes turned out to be? We've found that we don't mind prefolds & Bummis for economy & LOVE Fuzzi Bunz for overnight. Erin's long & lean & those all make a nice fit around her thighs. I tried lots of fitteds & MotherEase One Size & liked them, but can't justify the cost over prefolds. I tried BumGenius! one size & had lots of leak issues I'm going to try a Mommy's Touch One Size, cause it would be great to find a OS that works well. But I think I may be a FB girl at heart

We still love Little Lambs (the one-size fit both Nate and my 35 pound A.J.) and Happy Heinys (Nate is in size M now, and A.J. can wear a L or XL). And for overnight or longer periods of time my favourites are ProRaps or Bumpy ImseVimse wraps with a contoured prefold plus 1 or 2 hemp doublers. I have some fitteds that I sometimes use, and when I do I prefer a Bumkins wrap.

I think I am doing something wrong with the prefolds cause I get leaks every time. I didn't mind Kissaluvs but my favs are the Bum genious. I have never had a leak even after loooong time between changes! I wonder why they don't leak for us and do for you Jen. ? I don't love the Bummis Super Whisper Wrap as a cover even though everyone swore by it- It leaves red marks on Aria's thighs.

We use prefolds and Prowraps or Bummis. I exchanged my wraps for the next size up (medium) because he was so big at birth. They have fit since birth (with the tabs all the way to the middle), nad they are still fitting fine. I think they will fit for a long time.

It's time to get some regular prefolds, though, as the infant ones are getting a little small. I'm thinking of ordering some fitted dipes as well.

We have used sposies when out and about and at night from the beginning. I'm starting to think about using cloth at night, though. Not brave enough to do it out and about yet.

We use Happy Heiny's and Happy Hempy's most of the time, or pre-folds with a cover. I bought some Bumkins when Sam was about two months and those work really well for overnight.

I look at diapers online ALL THE TIME, and I get really excited when new prints of Happy Heiny's come out. I am such a nerd.

I have noticed that BumGenius are on sale everywhere, so it may be a good time to buy them for anyone that wants to try them out.

i am officially a cloth diaper addict! it's been a fun experiment so far...

we love our kissaluvs! sure they're bulky but i have never had a leak, ever, even with the super blow outs (isa poops every 3-5 days so it accumulates in there ). our bummis are awesome too.

the latest discovery is swaddlebees fitted... dear god... they are just so soft and love the colors. the velour are heaven but the terry are fabulous too. and they are more trim than others. and we've never had a leak. super pricey, yes, but we have scored on ebay .

we have a dozen fuzzi bunz (mediums) waiting to fit. can't wait to try them out, especially for nighttime, although at the moment kissaluvs with a fleece liner and a bummis are just fine overnight.

oh yeah, we did prefolds for the first month or so and it was nice for the price but she out-wet them quickly.

I had four Fuzzi Bunz in size small and the rest were infant prefolds and either prowraps or litewraps. I ALWAYS have to put two inserts in the FB and add an insert to the prefold because DD will seriously soak a prefold in about 10 seconds flat! I have recently started to get "brave" enough to use cloth even at night or out on the go. DD gets a booty rash even from Seventh Generation and I hate it so much, I decided to take the plunge to full time CDing.

I will have 9 FB in the medium size, which I am very excited about moving her in to pretty soon!

My favs are kissaluvs with the BSWW cover...they fit dd so well. We are transitioning into medium swaddlebees (I love how the fleece wicks the moisture into the insert so well the dipe feels dry until I pull out the insert!), which are still a little big on her, but I think she will grow into them soon.
We started EC two weeks ago...so my favorite EC dipes are Under the Nile and Sandies w/o covers because they contain any misses and I can feel pee misses right away and get her to the sink to finish up. I'm also using prefolds with snappies...
I still love my cloth dipes even though we're EC-ing...and I find we're using a lot less of our cloth wipe selection!

My faves are muttaqins.

For Charlie, I'm all about my patchwork pixies in the house, fuzzi bunz for outings. My toddler is growing out of her pwps much to my upset but I've recently discovered loveybums for her and they rock.

The pictures of your dipes stash are so lovely! A picture of mine would be a bunch of stained prefolds, some ratty wipes and a handful of used FB

I loooove fuzzibunz. If I could have 30 of those, I would. We have 3 bumgenius, too, and while they're pretty good, I'm just not as wild about them. The surprise has been the one bumkins dipe my MIL got us. I don't think it would work for overnight, but it's foolproof during the day, and looks totally comfy.

Thank you!

Honestly, if I could just use prefolds, I would. I am completely prefold inept but I have to figure them out since dd1 has pretty much outgrown all of the fitteds I have. I don't want to buy more becuase I'm hoping she'll potty learn soon so I need to learn what the heck to do with the stack of toddler prefolds I have just sitting here! Do you have any tips? I can't fold worth a darn, everytime I try it leaks EVERYWHERE! I tried on Charlie thinking it would be easier on an infant and nope, of course she pooped immediately and I clearly had not put the diaper on her correctly :

Honestly, I hate the large sizes of prefolds. They just hang out the back of the diapers! And if you fold it down before folding in thirds it's too darned bulky IMO. I just use infant prefolds even for my almost 3 year old! Fold in thirds, lay in a cover, add a hemp doubler, and voila. Then you get a good 3 years out of them!

Do you wash yours on warm or hot? I didn't read the directions well & washed them on hot about 4 times before I realized they are only supposed to be washed on warm. Do you think that could have done it?

Hmmmm, I'm not sure what the secret is! The only thing I can think of is that you have to make absolutely sure none of the prefold is poking out of the cover anywhere because it's cotton and will wick the pee right out and all over everything. I wonder if maybe the covers you are using don't fit her quite right so that when she moves it exposes some of the prefold? For me I like Litewraps and Prowraps. They seem to be a cheap, universally easy cover (albeit not terribly cute). If there are gaps around the leg holes you'll probably get leaks.

DD always looks like she has a cloth diaper packed solid around her booty, I think it's because I use the prefold, an insert and then a tight fitting cover.

HTH!

Jen, I did follow the washing directions. But it could also just be the way our kids are built or even how forcefully they pee...? I am guessing here but I doubt you ruined them with a few washes. Maybe try them in a few months when she is bigger.
BTW everyone, love the suggestions on prefolds, I have a ton and never use them cause she wets through in about 8 seconds. I will try again.

Something about BumGenius -- I was having leaks with the regular inserts that came with them from Cotton Babies. Someone told me that those just don't work right for some people, I can't fathom why. I started adding an infant prefold in with the insert, and they haven't leaked since.

I am crazy about the Loveybums I bought. They are my fave fitted and I plan on picking up more.
