What's the opposite of the nesting instinct?

I've been so sluggish the past two days, it's ridiculous...not only do I NOT have this so-called "nesting instinct" lately, but I seem to have the opposite of it, whatever that is...all I want to do is curl up and read (if I can find a comfy position!) and snuggle my cats and drink tea. Where's all that energy everyone talks about?

Anyone else feeling tired and sleepy and low-energy? What does it mean?

I am "due" next week and have no nesting desire at all right now. I am struggling to get the "essentials" like laundry and dishes done, much less clean other stuff. I never nested with my first child either. If anything, my house got pregressively more messy the closer I got to birth. I am going to enjoy my time resting because I know it will all change in the next couple weeks.

thank you! I'm really struggling to do anything right now. I'm lucky if the kitchen counters get wiped down and we won't even mention the bathroom... My butt has grown roots, so to speak, and I am completely unmotivated. It doesn't help that my dh is working a lot of overtime now so that he can take time off once the babe is born. I'm pretty much on my own as far as housework.

Whatever it is I got it too

I just wanna SLEEEEEEEEEEEEP

I figure once the energy really kicks in I know I'm gonna pop.

I still have some boxes of baby clothes to wash/sort Oy...

I go back and forth between nesting and relaxing!
One thing that kicks the nesting part in for me is collard or turnip greens! Not sure why (iron maybe?) but it really gets me motivated, and I get a lot done!
If you dont' have anything that NEEDS to get done I'd say just enjoy RESTING!!

I went from supernesting to hitting a brick wall... maybe I overdid it? In any case, for the past couple days I've felt awful... and have not been able to do much, even if I'd wanted to. Part of it may be that I've had really strong braxton hicks on and off for a few days now, and so much the other night that I couldn't sleep... but resting is good, conserve your energy for labor! My midwife said I need to be taking it easy and try to have a nap every day. I laughed when she said this, but she was very serious.

Oh good, so I'm not the only one...perhaps we shouldn't be beating ourselves up over it, and not feeling guilty and being so unproductive. Maybe the guilt comes from our fast-paced society and the feeling like we always have to be doing SOMETHING useful. Well, I say "screw you, society! I'm going to be lazy these last few days!". Who's with me?

Maybe we should all do something nice to treat ourselves today. I'm going to take a slow walk to Tim Horton's with a book, and sit and read and have a cup of coffee, because that's what I enjoy most. That's my big goal for today! Anyone else?

well my midwife is coming on Weds. So I do have to get this place somewhat tidied up by then

ARGH Lack of energy and ambition. I'll be 37 weeks in only 4 days....need to get things done!
