I don't know how long this has been up, but YouTube pulled the last circ video. Give it time and i suspect this one will go too.

yeah sad if they do, it's a very well done vid with all sorts of facts and tidbits about the foreskin, and a nice list of complications from the surgery as well as the procedure itself. It is VERY comprehensive, and I feel it should be shown in every childbirth education class due to the very comprehensive nature of it.

OK I made it through 1/3 of it.
Hey, all you 'they're cold on the board', 'they're just uncomfortable', 'they slept through it' folks- how have I had three children (two very colicky high needs), & never, never, NEVER heard that particular shrill, tortured cry?

Is this not the same video from cirp.org? Just a longer version? I can't hear it right now. I'll have to restart my computer I guess. I could possibly host it. Its not my webspace though. Its given to me and I'm not sure how much I have.

No it's not. This video is one that has an acctual narrative from a woman that describes the function of the foreskin, the entire list of complications and the whole nine yards. It is REALLY good

Yes I know. But during the circ footage itself, there is a male talking- I always assumed it was the doctor doing the circ himself- and this is the exact same plastibel circ that's on cirp.org just a longer version.

I have heard that cry from one of my children. It was when he was being circ WITH anesthetic.....and I have never heard that cry again since. The nurse brought him back to me and said "he was an angel. He slept right through it." She didnt know I walked in on it being done. Liars.

Speaking of cutting... do they always have to make a dorsal slit?
My mil (retired nurse) told me today that she has been in on probably fifty circumcisions at two different hospitals (not sure how many different doctors) and NOT ONCE did they EVER have to make that slit.
She made it seem like THAT was the worst part of circumcision, and since SHE never saw it happen circ isn't a big deal most of the time.
:
Oh, she also talked about how "slick" circs using the Gomco clamp are, and how the babies almost always stopped crying even before they were picked up, blah blah blah. She made it seem like no big deal -- pull the foreskin forward, push the penis back and snip snip you're done. How can you see that many and STILL not have a clue what it actually entails?
I want to say some very bad words.

I've seen many circumcisions, and the only ones where a slit wasn't always made was the mogen clamp.

I've been posting this video on other pregnancy/parenting boards which sometimes don't allow direct links to "graphic" material. Here's an example that anyone can adapt for themselves:

TO VIEW THE CLIP: -Go to mgmbill.org -Click on "Multimedia" in the left hand column. -Scroll down to "Birth As We Know It: Circumcision" near the bottom. -Click on the image of the toy rabbit sitting in the basinett, it will take you to a page where the (almost 5 minute) clip will play automatically for most people. (You can also download it in WMV format, or if you're on a mac you can view it on YouTube (link provided).) As a birth assistant and childbirth educator I first saw this film at a screening in August, at the International Symposium for Circumcision, Human Rights, and Genital Integrity in Seattle. It was absolutely awe-inspiring and by far the most spectacular and professionally done birth video I've seen to date. It is very exciting and generous of Elena Tonetti-Vladimirova to make this clip available for free public viewing through mgmbill.org. Thanks, Elena!!! Please share your thoughts, Jen |
