bloody mucus plug

I think I'm losing my mucus plug-yea! I've never had this happen before so I have some questions. Most books mention that it is clear or blood tinged. However, mine is rusty like old menstrual blood. I do have a cervical polyp that might have been, ahem, "irritated "several nights ago and I had an internal exam yesterday (dilated 2 cms). I don't think I should worry yet because of these things. However, since I had a placental abruption with my first birth I'm overly cautious. At what point would you call the doctor?

(I've had several clumps each time I've used the bathroom, 5 times now. Each one is about the volume of a screw on soda cap, some more some less.)

sounds like you will go into labor in the next day or two. its ok if its rusty-colored (like old, brown blood) or pink/red tinged. only call the dr if the blood is enough so that you have to put a pad on. a little bit of red blood is ok. good luck!
